Just as we did in Milwaukee at the Republican National Convention, USGLC was in Chicago last week at the Democratic National Convention, hosting a premier foreign policy event. In partnership with the National Democratic Institute (NDI), we brought together top leaders from Senator Christopher Coons to Ambassador Susan Rice to shine on a spotlight on the value of American engagement in the world. Amb. Rice said “our physical security, our national security, our economic security, are really, truly inextricably linked to what happens outside our shores.” Senator Coons said “Russia's aggression in Ukraine makes it clearer than ever that we're at a moment where defending democracy through our allies and partners is the path forward for the United States.” Watch this 2-minute recap video for more 🎥

Crisis Communications | Reputation Management; Founder/CEO: Big Sky Crisis Communications; Managing Director/Northern California, Head of Crisis Communications: Perceptual Advisors
Continuing on the theme of mis/dis-information, its consequences and ways to prevent its damage, listen to this conversation with former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, hosted by Cyabra. Pompeo discusses the impacts of foreign actors on American opinion and politics, methods for fighting mis/dis-information and how government can work with the private sector to collaborate against this threat. Note: I have no financial connection to Cyabra. I just think they are doing really good work.
Cyabra recently hosted former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, our newest board member, for a conversation about #disinformation. This was one of the most important conversations I have ever had in this field. My mind is still reeling from the abundance of knowledge, insights, and ideas Mike managed to squeeze into one hour. 💥 We assessed the roles education and regulation play in safeguarding societies, examined how foreign actors from #China, #Russia, and #Iran manipulate American opinions, discussed whether governments are treating the challenge of disinformation with the necessary severity, explored how the US government can collaborate with the private sector to combat disinformation, and delved into strategies for restoring the public’s trust. I’d like to thank everyone who dragged themselves all the way to Washington DC to take part in this amazing event. 🙏 If you weren’t one of the lucky few who got the exclusive invitation, you can now watch the highlights in the link below: https://lnkd.in/ePBimrxh Here’s a sample: Pompeo explains what governments can learn from the private sector, and companies like Cyabra. 🦉 Mind. Blown. #Disinformation #Misinformation #InfluenceOperations #FakeNews

Our Founding Fathers designed a system in which the states would serve as a check against any overreach by the federal government. The Constitution was their blueprint, and nullification was their safety valve. But over time, the balance has shifted. Federal power has grown, often at the expense of state sovereignty. And yet, the principle of nullification remains as relevant and vital today as it was over 200 years ago. It’s time to reassert the power of the states to thwart federal overreach. In other words, it’s time to Make America STATES Again! https://lnkd.in/gcd23zuh
