Misplaced concerns about particulate emissions are leading some authorities to hesitate about biomass as a source of green heat. In the first place, modern biomass technology produces negligible particulate emissions. What's more, the areas of primary concern for air quality are cities. Not only are most UK cities already beating the 2040 air quality target (source: Statista) but biomass heating is far more likely to be found off the gas grid, which is usually a more rural environment.
