Is your basement staying dry this summer? That might not be all good news. Hot, dry weather can draw moisture deep from the soil around your home, causing it to shrink. This shrinkage can lead to shifting foundation walls and widening cracks. Even if no cracks are visible, these conditions can create gaps that invite water in during the next heavy rain. Don’t let a dry basement today lead to big problems tomorrow. Schedule your free in-home consultation at uswaterproofing.com/book and ensure your foundation is ready to stand strong against whatever weather comes your way. #FoundationRepair #Chicago

🔥 Texas Summer Heat Got You Sweating? Don't Forget Your Foundation! The Texas sun is relentless, but it's not just you who feels the heat – your home's foundation does too! Here in DFW, scorching summers can wreak havoc on the stability of your house. But fear not, fellow Texans! By following these simple tips, you can keep your foundation cool, calm, and collected all summer long: Hydration is Key: Just like you, your foundation needs to stay hydrated. Use a soaker hose to gently water the soil around your foundation (avoiding direct contact) a few times a week during dry spells. Aim for damp, not soggy soil. Mind Your Drainage: Water is good, but too much can be disastrous. Ensure your gutters are clear and extend away from your foundation. Mulch it Up: A healthy layer of mulch (2-4 inches thick) around your foundation works wonders. It shades the soil from the sun, retains moisture, and prevents erosion. Crack Check: Regularly inspect your foundation for cracks. Small ones might not be a huge deal, but larger cracks warrant a call to a professional foundation repair company. By taking these proactive steps, you can protect your home's most crucial element and avoid costly repairs down the road. #dfwrealestate #dfwrealtor #dfwnewhomes #dfwnewconstructionhomes #newbuildhome #dfwhousingmarket #dfwhomesforsale #dfwhomes #dfw #godleytexas #godleytexasrealestate #godleytexasnewhomeconstruction #godleyhighschool #godleyisd #godleytxrealestate #godleyhomesforsale #sellinggodley #Ilikebiglots #TexasHomes #FoundationMaintenance #SummerHeat #DIY

There are many steps a homeowner can take to help prevent termites from infesting their property. Most importantly, a homeowner should eliminate or reduce moisture in and around their home, which termites need in order to thrive. Here are some additional tips: ● Install properly functioning downspouts, gutters and splash blocks to divert moisture away from the home and its foundation. ● Reduce humidity in crawl spaces with proper ventilation or dehumidification. ● Keep vines, hedges and other vegetation trimmed to prevent contact with the home. ● Remove old form boards, grade stakes, tree trunks and roots near the home as they may attract termites. ● Maintain an 18-inch gap between soil and any wood portions of your home. ● Store firewood at least 20 feet away from the house and 5 inches off the ground. Check it for pests before bringing it indoors. ● Routinely inspect the foundation of your home for signs of termite damage, such as mud tubes or damage to exposed wood. #tips #prevention #termiteawarenessweek
