In March, I naïvely handed over $275.00 to Uber Drive for a week-long rental. Imagine my surprise when, upon picking up the rental at the airport, I discovered my driver’s license needed replacement. Fine, a minor inconvenience. However, when I returned with my updated license, Uber suddenly had no record of my $275 payment. Fast forward to today, and Uber still hasn’t returned my funds. Their service departments have proven to be a labyrinth of uselessness, each call ending with yet another transfer to an equally unhelpful department. It’s almost as if they’re competing to see who can be the most unhelpful. On a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being the absolute worst, Uber has impressively earned a solid 0. As an Uber driver supporting a family of four, I've encountered serious obstacles. My Story: Last Saturday, I paid a £300 deposit and £170 weekly rent for a hire car. My Uber account was then falsely blocked for document forgery. Despite proving my innocence, my account remained blocked for four days. When finally unblocked, I started a shift but was blocked again just two hours in, leaving me stranded 25 miles from home. The Impact: Loss of Earnings: Made less than £50 this week.
