⚛ Happy World Quantum Day's Eve🌐 In 2022 we started celebrating World Quantum Day on April 14 to engage with the general public in their understanding about #QuantumTechnologies. QTech is here to revolutionize many aspects of our society in the long run, from communication to computation, and it is extremely important that the people understand what quantum science can and can't do. ❓ And why April 14? 4.14 are the first rounded digits of Planck constant (in eV s units). Planck constant is one of the most important numbers in quantum physics. But don't even think that this is something that only we use. Did you know that the Planck constant is currently used to exactly define what exactly a kilogram is? To celebrate these facts and all the new discoveries, #WorldQuantumDay offers a plethora of events and activities that you should check out if you are in the area. I personally look forward to the QuanTour Kick-off event. In this ceremony, people from Technische Universitt Berlin will present a quantum light source that, like an olympic flame, will travel all around Europe accross 12 different countries for a whole year. A truly inspiring initiative! Are you visiting any events in your area? Have a look at the webpage in the comments to see the different activities happening in your city! #QuanTour #QTorch #SUPERquantum #Sciencefluencer

Reflecting on 2023: A Year of Advancements in the use of Rare Gases (Xenon) and Big Science! As 2023 came to an end, it's exhilarating to look back on the milestones achieved in the realm of Rare Gases and Big Science. From the groundbreaking XeSAT23 event focused on Dark Matter experiments to my speech at the Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay community in SLAC, the year has been nothing short of intense and impactful. XeSAT23: Trying to break the Dark Matter Mysteries Participating in the XeSAT23 event in Nantes was a highlight, where the global scientific community converged to delve into the mysteries of Dark Matter. The discussions and insights shared during this event marked a significant step forward in our understanding of the role liquid Xenon can play in these experiments and how industry and Big Science can work together. SLAC Speech: Unleashing Xe Properties for Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay experiments In October 2023, I had the privilege of addressing the Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay community at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The focus was on enhancing Xenon136 properties and the availability of natural Xenon, contributing to the ongoing quest for unraveling the secrets of particle physics. The collaboration and enthusiasm within the community were truly inspiring. Looking Ahead to 2024: Next Challenges Await As we embark on a new year, the journey in Rare Gases and Big Science continues. What challenges lie ahead for 2024? The landscape is vast, but some areas beckon exploration. From refining detection technologies to expanding collaborative efforts, the next year promises new opportunities to push the boundaries of our understanding. Your Insights Matter: What do you think will be the next challenges in Rare Gases and Big Science for 2024? Let's engage in a conversation and chart the course for another year of groundbreaking discoveries and advancements. #xenon #raregases #bigscience #xesat2023 #doublebetadeday #darkmatter #challenge #gas #slac #ParticlePhysics #research

🎲 Last night's game night took a scientific twist with the Diamond Light Source board game! As we navigated through the exciting world of synchrotron science, pretending to be scientists conducting experiments at the beamlines (with five current or former scientists working at synchrotron radiation sources 🤣 )! 🔬 Each card drawn was a step into the world of discovery, highlighting the thrills and spills of scientific research. It was fascinating to see how the game encapsulated the essence of collaboration in science. 😜 Kudos to Diamond Light Source for creating a game that's not only fun but educational. It's a brilliant tool for demystifying complex synchrotron science and making it engaging for everyone. 👏 To all my fellow science enthusiasts and board game lovers, this game is a must-try but quite rare as I had to learn. And remember, if you're ever in a real synchrotron and in need of top-notch X-ray optics - you know who to call! 😉 #DiamondLightSource #BoardGameNight #ScienceCommunication #SynchrotronScience #XRnanotech #MissingPiece XRnanotech

I am delighted that a very cool project I have been working with my PhD student, Yulia Lunina, has been accepted at ICIS 2024! In this project, we investigated fine-grained psychological changes in human-AI interactions in a unique continuous decision-making context - driving! We employed neuroscience techniques and driving simulations to operationalize this super cool study. Lunina and Choi (2024) When Machines are Learning, Why Not Humans?
