𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐈𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬? There are lots of Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) floor finishes on the market, but you want one that will provide maximum protection. Three questions will help you determine which finish is right for your VCT floors: • Do you want your floors to shine a lot or a little? • How much foot traffic will they receive? • How often will they receive maintenance? In addition to answering these questions, follow the flooring manufacturer’s recommendations. Doing so will protect your floors’ integrity and extend their service life. 3 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 You’ll be hard pressed to find flooring that’s more beautiful and sophisticated than travertine. It’s a stone floor, which means it’s porous, but it withstands heavy foot traffic and lasts a long time. Here are three things you should know about travertine flooring: 1. Holes can form in it. If they do, repair them immediately or they will expand. 2. It is easily damaged (e.g., chips, cracks, etches, scratches). 3. It must be sealed periodically with StoneGuard or it will stain. Travertine flooring is delicate—more so than most stone floors—so we recommend that it receive proper maintenance by skilled floor care professionals on a regular basis. If it does, it will retain its beauty and sophistication for 20 years or more. 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞? Why are expansion gaps necessary? Proper installation of LVT flooring requires expansion gaps to prevent buckling between planks that could compromise its integrity, ensuring long-term flooring performance and stability. Your flooring should be able to adapt to the following factors without compromising its integrity: 🌡️ Temperature: high temperatures can cause expansion. 💧 Humidity levels: high humidity can lead to swelling. 🏗️ Structural movement: over time, natural settling of building structure can occur. The flooring should be able to adjust to such movement, ensuring it remains stable and secure. Expansion gaps allow the material to expand and contract freely as the ambient environment and structure change. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 Natural slate flooring is beautiful and durable, but to retain its original beauty and ensure that it lasts a long time, it must receive proper maintenance from qualified floor care providers on a regular basis. We recommend sealing it to protect it from stains and abrasions and to prevent it from deteriorating. There are two types of sealers you can use on slate floor tiles: 1. 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝-𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫: Will protect it from stains and abrasions but will alter the appearance of the flooring. These sealers are available in different sheen levels, so your slate floor tiles can have a matte, semi-gloss, or high-gloss finish. 2. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫: Will protect it from liquid stains and won’t alter its appearance. 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞? 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐥 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 Sheet vinyl flooring is often found in older medical facilities because: • It’s comfortable to stand and walk on. • It’s easy to maintain. • It’s inexpensive • It’s quiet when walked on. Sheet vinyl flooring has a matte finish—which is a duller finish—and while many people prefer floors with glossy finishes, sheet vinyl flooring won’t pose a problem when it’s stripped and refinished. The same isn’t true for glossy floors. For sheet vinyl flooring to look its best and last as long as possible, it must receive maintenance on a regular basis by qualified floor care professionals. It must also be cared for in accordance with its manufacturer’s recommendations. 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞?
