Great representation of the UC Davis CLEAR Center from Master Student, Briana Morales and University of California, Davis' Swine Facility Manager, Shelby Sopocy at this year's Fall Legislative Action Conference! We're thrilled to see members engaging in important swine industry discussions and fostering meaningful connections within the community. 👏
This week I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the 2024 Fall Legislative Action Conference with National Pork Producers Council and California Pork Producers Association! 🐷 Many pork producers and industry members across the different states, joined together to talk about key issues like Prop 12, the #FarmBill, labor, trade, and market access. The conference, had many great speakers providing updates on Economics, Animal Health, Global Market, Food Policy, and many more. Headed to Capital Hill along side Shelby Sopocy, joined by Kentucky producer Eric Heard, to meet with staff from California engaging in policy discussion and advocating for the key issues in the pork industry. The conversations continued at the amazing Baconfest event at the Library of Congress, while enjoying delicious pork inspired foods and desserts. As a new attendee I learned many new issues in the industry and the impacts it has on not only producers but consumers as well. As Matt Grill stated, "D.C. is run by those who keep showing up," and I too, plan to keep showing up with California and advocate for these key issues. #PorkinAction2024 #NPPCLAC2024 #PorkPriorities
