Eqi Luo, a first-year PhD. student at the Earth Science Department, told us about his very diverse international background and current journey. Eqi’s research will aim to understand the impact urbanization and climate-related risks have on the “most deprived population in low and middle-income countries,” and this focus is equipped with his international background. “I guess having a diverse background has been key to my graduate program success. With experiences in China, the Netherlands, and field work in Africa (Egypt, Kenya, Uganda), I've developed a rich international perspective - critical for researching urbanization and climate change." #Switzerland has the highest concentration of top study programmes in the world, according to an annual ranking published by British higher education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Published yesterday, the ranking placed the federal technology institute ETH Zürich top in three subjects: earth and marine sciences, geophysics and geology. The EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) in Lausanne also defended its top spot for hospitality.    Although there are overall more top-ranked degree programmes in the UK and the US, Switzerland has the highest concentration (2%) of top-ranked degree programmes in the world, QS Quacquarelli Symonds said. https://lnkd.in/eCeusDeQ Switzerland Global Enterprise #InvestInSwitzerland #GrowYourBusiness

Tuesday marked the 15th anniversary of starting my PhD at University of Leeds. While it was tough and challenging at times, it was also great fun and opened my career path for me. Thanks to my Geosciences degree I had met many PhD students and had some idea of the ups and downs of doing one.
