To increase the representation of #women in #leadership positions, it’s essential to go beyond simply setting quotas. Quotas alone won’t solve the underlying issues. Instead, we must understand the barriers that prevent women from stepping into leadership roles. Studies like the #genderintelligencereport published by Advance – Gender Equality in Business and University of St. Gallen - HSG provide valuable insights into these challenges and shed light on the current situation. At Siemens Smart Infrastructure IT, I launched the #NxtGenFemLeader Program to address this gap. This initiative is designed to help emerging female leaders build critical skills and, importantly, tackle the confidence gap that often holds women back. Unlike many #management programs, our approach is holistic. In addition to developing social and leadership skills, we focus on deepening participants' understanding of key areas like business strategy, financial acumen, and networking. The program also offers personalized coaching to guide participants throughout their journey. Reimagining Leadership in the Property Sector Our research reveals that women, particularly Black African women, hold only 15% of executive roles in the property sector—a glaring gap that demands urgent action. We are pioneering efforts to not only increase this percentage but to fundamentally reimagine leadership in the sector. Our goal is to create an industry where women are equally represented and their contributions are valued at every level. There's been some progress toward gender diversity in leadership at major corporations.
