Happy Rheumatoid Awareness Day! 💙 Rheumatoid disease is an autoimmune condition. The body believes the linings of the joints are foreign tissue, which causes the body to attack and damage the joints. This results in inflammation and pain, with arthritis being a major symptom of the #Rheumatoid disease. This disease affects more than a million Americans, most of them being women. #RheumatoidAwareness Day was created in 2013 to help raise awareness for the disease. Research has shown that a lack of public education and awareness, leads to a delay in seeking medical advice which can result in inadequate treatment.
