New Year, New Goals, New Accountability 🎯💪 The other day, I was listening to BBC Radio One, and they were discussing whether we should replace the word "resolution" with "intention" for the New Year. Their reasoning? The word "resolution" supposedly carries negative connotations, especially if you don’t achieve what you’ve set out to do. Using "intention" was seen as a way to avoid feelings of shame or failure. Honestly, I didn’t agree at all. While I understand the importance of self-compassion, I think there’s value in accountability. If we don’t achieve something within our control, shouldn’t we reflect, take responsibility, and use it as a lesson to grow? 🤔📈 Life will always throw curveballs 🌪️, and sometimes external factors make our goals unattainable, which is understandable. But when the outcome is in our hands, it’s important to own our failures and learn from them, rather than rebranding them to avoid discomfort. Growth doesn’t come from blame-shifting; it comes from resilience and taking action. 🚀✨ So, here’s to 2025 resolutions. Not intentions. Resolutions that push us to be better, take responsibility, and learn along the way. Let’s make it a year of accountability and progress! 🎉💼
🌟 Happy New Year all! Wishing everyone a bright and joyful 2025, filled with success and unforgettable moments! 🌟

New Year Greeting and Wishes to you all from Value Added. One of the agendas for businesses this year to start focussing on understanding Corporate Reporting better to understand and appreciate Standards, Certifications, Compliances and Regulations better. Its increasingly becoming a connected world and hence Knowledge Teams should have more knowledge on both Financial and Non Financial Systems Reporting to understand the Regulations, Standards , certifications, Compliance, Governance Structures better. Corporate Reporting calls for multidisciplinary teams - be it in Audit, Assurance or Consulting World. This inter-disciplnary and multidisciplinary focus is missing in these corridors. Experts are No longer Experts with Limited Knowledge . Time to reskill, upskill, acquire new skills to bring Value to the Knowledge Space.
Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year

I love reading everyone's reflections. Reflecting is important to me. But at this time of year, it can be easy to feel there is something wrong with you if you don't have a list of achievements for last year, and targets for this year. I reflect... but I don't do new year goals. I do goals as they come... as I decide I want to achieve them, and I get on and do it. I've often had odd looks when I have no 5 year plan. Maybe my plan is different, or maybe I just describe it differently. My plan will continue to be about how I act and what I value. I will continue to support my friends and colleagues, and look for how we can all be stronger, better, together. I will continue to hold strong with what I believe to be right, even when others don't understand me. I will continue to listen, to observe, to consider, and to learn from those around me, whatever your stage in life or career. I will continue to do those things which make me smile (especially music and mentorship!), because this provides me energy for everything else. So here's to no big goals, but big values :) Happy New Year everyone!

As we welcome this fresh beginning, let’s take a moment to thank the year gone by and the encounters that made our lives complete. For all its challenges and triumphs, it taught us lessons, brought us moments of joy, and revealed our strength. With gratitude for the past, we look forward to the future with intention. In this new year, let’s transform: · Judgment into curiosity – finding wonder in each other's perspectives and experiences. · Conflict into shared exploration – discovering solutions and understanding through collaboration. · Defensiveness into self-reflection – seeing challenges as opportunities for inner growth. · Assumptions into questions – cultivating openness and a willingness to learn. May 2025 be a year of kindness, clarity, and connection. Let’s step forward with gratitude for what was and hope for what’s to come. Happy Newyear Guy Theunis

I am always thankful to my very first boss... Sir Olan - he hired me not because of me physically not qualified, but because he believed that I can do the job. During the interview (way back 2004): Sir Olan said: "The position your applying for is somewhat like a Hotel Front desk Officer, most Front Desk Personnel are about 5'4 to about 5'6 in height for female, you are not even 5' tall, what can you do about it? (feels like I am sinking on my chair knowing I might not gonna be hired again because I lack the height)" So I answered him (with confidence, as if): "I can still do the job even if I am not that tall! (I am 4'11 by the way), I can wear high heels while working!" Sir Olan smiled and said, "I like your answer"! And this is my very 1st formal job. I was bothered by my height before, I was not hired by most of the Retail Store I applied for, because; one, I lack the height requirement (which is a requirement before by the way) and two, I do not know how to put cosmetics, (gosh! I do not like putting heavy cosmetics on my face, and good cosmetics (before) are expensive) Below statement is true.
Start the new year with a grateful heart 💙

I want to be like....... We’ve all said it at some point—thinking of top experts in our industry or the highly successful people we admire. It’s natural to aspire to greatness and be inspired by others’ achievements. But here’s the thing: it’s not wrong to want to be like someone; what’s wrong is leaving it at wishful thinking. Every successful person you look up to has put in hours—sometimes years—of relentless effort. Many of them have routines and habits that push them beyond their limits. The question is: are you ready to put in the same level of work to achieve similar results? As you step into this new week, don’t just aspire to be like the greats in your field—act on it. Develop your skills, challenge yourself, and commit to consistent growth. Greatness isn’t reserved for others; it’s within your reach if you’re willing to work for it. Let’s make this week count🥂❤️!
