🌟 Making Congress Content Useful for Academic Work 🌟 Congress serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and discussion on current developments in various fields of science. We are proud that these discussions can not only be experienced live, but also recorded and made available in an online library. 🎥📚 With our special video player, designed specifically for academic work with its three levels, not only can presentations be reviewed, but it also enables diverse applications, such as citing specific sections from the presentation. Why is this important? The online library provides a wealth of materials that can be cited in research papers, essays, and studies – directly in common citation formats. This access to high-quality content helps improve the quality and scope of scientific work, while simultaneously fostering scientific exchange on a global scale. 🌍🔬 Enable your congress participants to utilize valuable content for their academic work and engage in discussions with colleagues. After all, science thrives on the sharing and discussion of ideas – and we are proud to be a part of this process! 💪💡 #Science #Research #ScienceCongress #OnlineLibrary #metafusion #knowledgetransfer Want to know more: https://lnkd.in/eRYHDMSk

We are pleased to announce that we have renewed an open research (OR) agreement, offering significantly more publishing options for researchers, with Jisc. The two-year deal enables researchers at participating institutions to publish OA in more than 2,400 Taylor & Francis journals, including, for the first time, 248 fully open access titles, and open research publishing platforms F1000Research and Routledge Open Research. Building on the previous transformative agreement (TA), which supported thousands of UK researchers to publish open access (OA), the agreement aims to foster OR practices and further increase the impact of UK research, especially in the humanities and social sciences (HSS). Maybe you've never heard of Robert Maxwell. But he was instrumental in the research access crisis. Here’s what happened: 1. Acquired Pergamon Press in 1951 - Pergamon was already a well-respected scientific publisher - Robert rapidly expanded its reach and influence in technology and medical fields 2. Subscription Model for Scientific Journals - In the aftermath of WW2, there was a big demand for scientific literature - Robert introduced a model that required universities and research institutions to pay substantial fees to access journals 3. Academic Publishing Dominance - Pergamon Press under Maxwell aggressively expanded its catalog of journals - They often launched new titles with little regard for quality or necessity - This strategy contributed to the proliferation of journals and the fragmentation of scientific literature 4. Impact on Libraries and Researchers - High subscription fees strained the budgets of libraries and academic institutions - Many could not afford to subscribe to all necessary journals, limiting access to scientific knowledge and research 5. Long-term Effects - Maxwell’s business practices set a precedent for other publishers - Today, rising costs of access continue to hamper scientific research And yes, he was Ghislaine Maxwell’s dad. Sadly, much of his personal life showcases that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

📚 Exploring the Evolution of Open Access Journals: Navigating Challenges, Amplifying Impact, and Envisioning Future Trends 🌐 A journey through the realm of Open Access (OA) journals and research reveals a dynamic landscape that is reshaping the future of scholarly communication. 🚀 Amnet has been doing quite a bit in this area over the last 3 years and has collaborated extensively with the COKO foundation to enable and enhance OA publishing through Nvcleus. Challenges: In the quest for universal accessibility, Open Access faces challenges such as sustainable funding. However, initiatives like the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) are working to set quality standards and increase transparency, addressing concerns about the rigor of research published in OA journals. Impact: The impact of Open Access journals is vividly illustrated by the Public Library of Science (PLOS). PLOS has not only challenged traditional publishing models but has also demonstrated the power of OA in accelerating scientific discoveries. The Global Burden of Disease Study, accessible freely through PLOS, is a testament to the global reach and impact of OA research. Future Trends: Looking forward, collaborative platforms like eLife are pioneering open peer review, fostering transparency in the scholarly review process. The rise of preprint servers, such as arXiv and bioRxiv, underscores the growing trend of early sharing of research findings, democratizing knowledge dissemination. As we navigate this era of significant transformative agreements, let's champion the cause of Open Access journals and research, acknowledging their impact on global knowledge exchange. 💡 #OpenAccess #ScholarlyCommunication #ResearchImpact #FutureTrends #AcademicPublishing #amnet #nvcleus #contentsource #cokofoundation #scholarlypublishing #research #platforms #digitaltransformation #publishing #transformative #associations #society #institution
