Educating ourselves on effective strategies to eradicate such practices is a pivotal step towards fostering a more equitable society. The self-study pack I\'ve engaged with has been instrumental in unveiling various platforms dedicated to combating modern slavery, thereby significantly enhancing my understanding of its multifaceted nature. #humansofmcrmetrise

I’m often asked by folks new to the THRIVEfunds anti-poverty, direct-giving approach: Why do you ask each requesting household to share a narrative? The short chronicle is not a perfunctory requirement for participation; nor, is it meant to illicit emotion of any type. One can assume our clients earn low incomes and have limited/no assets; yet, there’s so much more that we don’t know: what are their goals? their passions? their motivations? or their circumstances? 🌟 Remember novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 2009 TED Talk? 🌟  Adichie warned that stereotypical, reductive stories are harmful. She argues that one-dimensional stories rob people of dignity and make it harder for us to understand each other. So, while anyone who donates to help THRIVEfunds families might assume these households are experiencing material poverty ---this fact is only one aspect of their lives. We believe it is important that each household has an opportunity to share their story --in their own words. WE'RE NOW AT 31. No, that's not the current number of women killed by violence in Australia this year (although it's distressingly close to that, and rising). 31 is the number of local #FDV survivors we've successfully housed through the Impact Agents in our Housing Families program. That's a BIG number when you consider the current vacancy rate and the extent of this #housingcrisis. Even bigger when you add on the 62 children who are with them. Then, add on the 76 additional women that we've supported into alternative accommodation (see comments) and, all up, that's well over 100 Women that we've moved safely out of refuge, freeing up beds in crisis accommodation for those who need them right now.
