Chief Consultant and Founder - Tara HealthCare | Plastic Surgeon | Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgeon | Rhinoplasty and Facial Rejuvenation
Recently, I discovered an article on virtual reality (VR) in plastic surgery, sparking deep reflections on how technology intersects with the compassionate care we provide. The Promise of VR: Integrating VR goes beyond the novelty, fostering a realm of empathy and shared understanding that's foundational to every consultation. It offers a vivid walkthrough of potential outcomes, connecting hopes with reality in a transformative way. A Shift in Dynamics: VR changes the way we discuss possibilities with patients, making the unseen seen and supporting a collaborative exploration of outcomes. This shift is not merely technological but a revolution in patient empowerment and informed decision-making. Beyond the Surface: My fascination with VR extends to its potential to educate patients, overcome fears, and reshape perceptions of plastic surgery, particularly in cultures harbouring scepticism. Reflections on the Future: The insights gained suggest a future where VR enriches the patient-surgeon connection, making it more transparent and educational, thereby humanising the journey towards achieving desired outcomes. Comment down your opinion. Eager to hear your thoughts and engage in a discussion about its potential and impact. #DrKaranShetty #TaraHealthcare #VR #virtualreality #plasticsurgery #plasticsurgeon #vrinplasticsurgery

Virtual Reality (VR) is revolutionizing the medical field, offering immersive training for surgeons and enhancing patient outcomes. Surgeons can practice complex procedures in a risk-free environment and even use VR during operations to visualize anatomical structures in 3D. However, the integration of VR in real-time surgery presents challenges, such as ensuring precise synchronization with actual surgical instruments and maintaining patient safety. A significant question is whether VR can consistently improve surgical precision and reduce errors in diverse medical scenarios. This advancement holds promise but requires rigorous validation. #VirtualReality #MedicalInnovation #FutureOfSurgery

Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Brown University Co-Director Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Brown University Co-Director The Miriam Total Joint Center
I do anterior hip replacements during the day, I dream about them at night and now I am doing them in the metaverse! Appreciate J&J for allowing the Brown, Dartmouth, Yale residents and fellows who are attending an Anterior Hip and Anterior Revision course to use their VR module on anterior hip replacements prior to the lab. What are your thoughts on surgical education and VR? Share in the comments! #surgery #medicaleducation #VR #hipreplacements

Founder & XR Evangelist @ Virtu | Delivering Bespoke VR/AR/MR Solutions | Stoic Lifelong Learner in Tech, Business, Personal Development & Leadership
I recently had a chance to work on a VR Neurosurgery project. Previously, the medical trainings developed by my company were still using controllers, so visually you see the object but no feedback when you touch it. Now we experimented with a haptic device. This is a motorized device that applies force feedback on the users' hand, allowing them to feel virtual objects and producing touch sensations as users interacts 3D objects in VR. It means that when you touch a virtual brick in VR, you will feel the hardness and unable to push through. And when you touch a jello, you will feel the resistance and bounciness. It’s perfect for simulating procedures that require hand precision like neurosurgery. This is indeed a game changer for medical training. I can’t wait to explore further with it. #VirtualReality #VR #Neurosurgery #Training

What a weekend in VR looks like. Slightly different personal project focused on the process of building a virtual showroom for a product. Creating an immersive environment to demonstrate user flows and key features, with the goal of improving communication and product understanding. Enjoying trialling with more of NEOS Surgery's fracture fixation devices. Made in Gravity Sketch. #medicaldevice #virtualreality

This is one of the best and most refined medical simulations I have ever seen made in VR. Below is a VR simulation of a lipoma surgery, this can help upcoming doctors, students, and surgeons to practice and sharpen their skills. Great work done by Inion VR Technologies on building this product and many more!! If you also wish to build something similar or an extraordinary product in XR but are lacking the technical knowledge and skills, kindly reach out...
