Great issue of the IP Management Pulse of the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies - CEIPI. Thank you Prof. Dr. Alexander J. Wurzer for sharing. I was particularly interested in the post on the power of #Design. I'd love to see more education about Design protection outside the EU. In #China, for example, EU and US companies struggle to build good design portfolios and often hesitate in #enforcing them. Why? One of the reasons are the still lingering regulatory differences between China and the West regarding design #patents.

TODAY about IP Design. #IP Design, which is in my eyes an important part, a logic, a tool, of the innovation- and IP Strategy that offers a fantastic opportunity to advance the IP value, to achieve higher valuations, to become more visible. Tactical design, the tactical- and strategic use of intellectual property rights, especially patents, is a sharp sword. 1. Visibility: For me, the perfect IP design is when technical protection is visible from the outside even to the layman, that is, when a third-party company ignores a certain protection right and/or copies the technology so that everyone can see this copy. 2. Circumventability: Furthermore, it is important that the protection right itself, i.e. the way in which it is formulated, is so clear and sharp that nothing can be easily circumvented. Perhaps you need some. 3. Accessability: As a final point, I think it is very important that you have access to a protective right, which means that it is not just some technical refinement that is contained in a product and that can hardly be proven or if it is violated or copied, that you cannot actually see it because then the protective right is practically value-free.
