Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) diseases mainly manifest as pulmonary illnesses, but 20 -30% of NTM isolates originate from extrapulmonary diseases. These diseases cause a variety of clinical syndromes, including skin and soft-tissue infections, musculoskeletal infections, lymphadenitis, and disseminated disease. The recommended duration of therapy for skin and soft-tissue infection is usually 2 – 4 months for mild disease and 6 months for severe disease, while treatment of musculoskeletal NTM disease usually requires at least 6 - 12 months. ”Here, we report that SARS-CoV-2 infection triggers cellular senescence in Dopamine (DA) neurons. Previous work indicates that senescence of DA neurons can function as a contributing factor in Parkinson Disease pathogenesis. In patients with PASC, a post infectious autonomic dysfunction may be one of the underlying mechanisms. Patients often present with exercise intolerance and exaggerated heart rate response to exercise. Today, on World Hepatitis Day, we spotlight the urgent need for increased efforts to combat hepatitis C, a curable disease that continues to affect millions worldwide. This year’s theme, “It’s Time for Action,” aligns with our mission at Unitaid to make treatments accessible and affordable for everyone, especially the most vulnerable. Despite significant progress, only 1 in 5 people with chronic HCV infection have access to effective medicines. Unitaid remains dedicated to closing this treatment gap and ensuring that everyone has access to the care they need. Baylor Black Sea Foundation has reported significant growth of the Hepatitis Long-Term Care for 2023. A key player in free-of-charge diagnostic and long-term care services for people living with chronic infections in Constanța County, the foundation enrolled 144 newly diagnosed people living with hepatitis virus infection. The foundation's long-term care program for chronic hepatitis is actively managing 649 patients with hepatitis B and C. As the program continues to grow, it further strengthens our position as an essential healthcare provider in the area. This substantial patient number underscores the critical role the Baylor Black Sea Foundation plays in addressing hepatitis care needs in the region. The numbers also highlight the ongoing challenge of hepatitis in Constanța County and the increasing demand for specialized care. https://lnkd.in/d8aZdSBc
