AI offers immense potential, but with it comes an expanded risk landscape that organisations can’t afford to ignore. Cybersecurity shouldn’t be an afterthought in AI adoption—it should be built in from day one. Many business leaders and VC’s are focused on AI’s promise, but overlooking the cyber threats that come with it is a recipe for disaster. From training data poisoning, data process manipulation to large-scale data leaks, AI expands your attack surface. It's not just about guarding your systems, it's about understanding how AI can amplify existing risks. The right question isn’t just, “How can AI drive value?” but, “Are we equipped to secure that value?” AI presents exciting opportunities, but they must be approached responsibly. Without proper governance, AI can introduce significant cybersecurity risks. Striking the right balance between innovation and security is crucial, and we must set clear standards for AI adoption. Is there a case for #ciso and chief risk officers to employ AI or Innovation cyber leads to help architect the platform’s of the future? #AI #Cybersecurity #AIInCybersecurity #GenerativeAI

Great article. I think we have no choice but to employ AI in our systems. It must be done smartly and effectively not just to add as garnish so you can claim you are using AI. Our adversaries are employing AI to attack our networks.

While Greystone typically stays focused on providing actionable insights and solutions rather than commenting broadly on the AI landscape, we find the overview provided by the BCS Fellows Technical Advisory Group on AI's impact in 2024 to be particularly enlightening, especially for UK SMEs. This comprehensive report underscores AI's transformative potential across various sectors, from healthcare and education to customer service and cybersecurity, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges it presents. AI's ability to automate routine tasks, enhance decision-making, and personalise services is already making significant strides. However, concerns around job displacement, ethical considerations, and the need for robust governance frameworks cannot be overlooked. As AI continues to evolve, it's crucial for businesses, especially SMEs, to navigate these changes thoughtfully and strategically.
