This spot is called 'Imagine' and it delves deep into the experiences of Black college students. Every story, every scenario depicted, didn't spring from my imagination but was derived directly from our Crisis Relief Applications oveer the. years. The narratives shed light on a painful reality many of us may not realize: the absence of a robust support system that many Black college students confront daily. Unlike their peers, they often navigate the labyrinth of higher education without a safety net beneath them, compounding the typical college challenges with the weight of racial disparities. The presence or absence of this support can dictate the course of their academic journey and future. Sub:Culture Incorporated is not just observing these challenges; we're actively working to weave that crucial web of support. By filling gaps, providing resources, and building connections, we're not merely leveling the playing field, but redefining it. And when we say, "Become a donor," we aren't asking for charity. It's an opportunity for reparations—a chance to recognize the historical inequities faced by Black communities and to be an active participant in restoring balance. The financial backing we receive goes beyond funding—it's a symbol of acknowledgment, responsibility, and commitment to equity. The stories in our video may be a testament to struggles, but with the collective effort of our community, they can also be a prologue to a brighter, more inclusive future.

Research shows that in the Black community, many face money challenges like lower homeownership, more debt, and not enough savings for retirement. With economic inequality and financial insecurity as big issues, understanding money is crucial. By putting resources into financial education programs made for Black Americans, we can help people and families learn about budgeting, saving, investing, and building credit. Will you be attending AACC's Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky next month? Join my session, with Karen Stout titled “Realizing Black Learner Excellence at Community Colleges" at 9 a.m. on April 7. Black learners have been underserved and, as a result, have left America's postsecondary system. Community colleges, a critical entry point for first-generation, low-income, and Black students, have experienced the most significant loss. The new Level Up Report and get REAL framework will be discussed to engage participants in a renewed commitment to Black learner success. This call to action is an important step in establishing institutional, system, and policy change to support reforms to improve the outcomes for Black students pursuing postsecondary programs and degrees. Our discussion will unearth the historical significance of these vibrant economic centers, exploring their ascent and, regrettably, their tragic downfall. Black educators benefit all children. However, currently Black educators make up only 6% of the teaching workforce. Districts and schools must urgently identify ways to create conditions for Black educators to thrive and stay in the profession. That is why the Black Educator Advocates Network is conducting the California Black Educator Survey to hear from Black educators about what they need to feel valued and affirmed.
