In episode three of our podcast, Alok chats to journalist and author Julian Sancton about the harrowing and epic survival story of The Belgica, an early polar expedition gone terribly wrong with a ship frozen in ice and its crew trapped inside for months of endless polar night. 🔊Search ‘A Voyage to Antarctica' on all major podcast platforms. 🤝This season is kindly supported by Hurtigruten Expeditions.

An incredibly insightful podcast with each episode bringing considered facts, interpretations, and drink suggestions!
Sixteen weeks ago, I asked Ntina Tzouvala, Imogen Saunders, Dr Juliette McIntyre and Tamsin Paige to start a podcast with me. I thought we might, one day, get to 60 listeners. Today Called to the Bar has 515 followers and has had 13,000 streams over our 3 major platforms and is listened to on every continent except Antarctica. https://lnkd.in/gB6wH8kY

Here’s the podcast hosted by Rosalie of Ellipsis Drive where we discuss the opportunities and challenges of Satellite Edge Computing. We touch on comparable terrestrial technologies to draw an analogy as well as where we are on the path to maturing and harnessing it taking these terrestrial examples as reference. There are so many real-world problems that we think can be intrinsically solved by placing a camera in space. But when we dig deeper, we hit various barriers that make it hard, if not impossible to execute with today’s technology. Some of those we covered are early detection of #wildfires, illegal and polluting activity at sea, release (not just leaks) of #methane and other GHGs. Satellite Edge Computing is in its early days, and we at SkyServe are just getting started - solving for these challenges starts with sizing them up, and it is now going to be easier. The next logical step will be to ACT! Looking forward to engage with those investing their time and expertise to solve these not-so-headlining but BIG problems of our times. #edgecomputing #satellite #space #onboardautonomy #geospatial #gis #location #analytics #GeoAI #artificalintelligence #computervision #AIML #earthobservation #remotesensing #lowlatency #rapidresponse #alerts

In the newest episode of the podcast, we wrap up our coverage of the Mexican Revolution, the start of World War I, and their combined effects on making the international border what it is today. Along the way, we will also see how fear, paranoia and the decreasing sense of binationalism led to an ugly shootout between the U.S. and Mexican in the streets of Ambos Nogales. #listennow #az #history #azhistory #podcast
