💚 Thank you to everyone who attended our Regenerative Design Primer workshop last week, on feedback and learnings. Your insights were invaluable, and we’ll use them to shape the next iteration of the guide. 🌱 Our goal is to create a truly practical and impactful resource for advancing regenerative design, helping to transition our built environment from degenerative to regenerative practices and driving meaningful change. 🏗️ We’re keen to collaborate across the construction industry, including MEP and structural engineers, contractors, planners, universities, and forward-thinking clients. 🤝 For those who expressed interest in further involvement, we’ll be reaching out soon. There are plenty of opportunities for organisations, both small and large, to contribute. 📧 If you couldn’t attend but would like to participate, it’s not too late—please get in touch! You can contact us at hello@architectsdeclare.com. 👇 Listen below to Marc Seligmann, Head of Sustainability at Maccreanor Lavington, talking about why the Primer is so important in shifting thinking towards regenerative design, and watch this space for more resources and updates on the Primer coming soon... https://lnkd.in/dGGKcZ-z #WatchThisSpace #RegenerativeDesignPrimer #Collaboration #BuiltEnvironment #ClimateAction #UKArchitectsDeclare

Arup Associate and Food and Agriculture Systems Business Leader, Eike Sindlinger, talks to AD about Regenerative Design and our new Primer, which he helped to develop and produce. The Primer gives detailed guidance for architectural practices and others on shifting the paradigm from sustainability to regenerative approaches: from mitigating the built environment's negative impacts to delivering one that makes 'positive' the default. “For me, regenerative design is the first time we actually don’t have the separation (between humans and nature) but we kind of treat them as one, and that is very different because that approach in my book is very change positive” You can download the #Primer for FREE from the Architects Declare website: https://lnkd.in/e2gnRSNc Designed and delivered by AD's Steering Group, a team of expert contributors and reviewers, this new, free 43-page guide complements our earlier Practice Guide and other resources. The adaptive reuse of Horton Plaza in San Diego, California is a tangible and well-executed case study into the astronomical embodied carbon reductions that may be realized through #BuildingReuse. The structural engineer on this project was Miyamoto International and the sustainability consultant was Atelier Ten. The majority of the superstructure and substructure was reused and through this reuse of these primary building elements, the design demonstrated a 73% decrease in embodied carbon when compared to a baseline new build. Have questions about CalGreen Embodied Carbon Requirements? Reach out to the Sustainable Design Committee at sustainable@seaosc.org. #TechnicalTuesdays

Excited to share Useful Simple Trust's impact report for 2023. It's 6 months since I started at Useful Projects, and it's been an exciting and busy time. I feel really lucky to be part of such a great organisation, working alongside my colleagues from Expedition Engineering Ltd, Useful Studios and Thomas Mathews. The theme of this year's impact report is 'circularity' a topic close to my heart. It's great to see how this theme (one of four cross cutting themes), is applied in all aspects of work across the trust. It's well worth a read if you want to learn more about our work. And if you want to find out about how we can help you, then feel free to get in touch! #circulareconomy #sustainability #impactreport #sustainabilityconsulting
📢 Our 2023 Impact Report is now available! 📢 This year we are focusing on the theme of ‘circularity’, showcasing how our work to create regenerative and circular buildings, strategies, and places is really delivering impact on the ground. ♻ The key principles of a circular economy: eliminating waste and pollution, circulating products and materials at their highest value, and regenerating nature, offer one pathway to transitioning our built environment. We work in collaboration with clients and professional teams who have a shared ambition to refurbish, retrofit and repurpose existing buildings, extend the life of built assets, design out waste, and use materials with the lowest possible environmental footprint. This Report presents some of the achievements we are most proud to share with you. Thank you to all our clients, collaborates, and supporters who make it possible for us to do such positively impactful work. 📑 Read our 2023 Impact Report in full here - https://lnkd.in/eXDeF34j.
