Today we’re honouring the unique and historic ties between the UK and the island of Sark. The flag of Sark is flying proudly over MoJ HQ, marking the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth I granting the Fiefdom of Sark to the first Seigneur in 1565.

Ok. One of those posts which leaves one thinking... "Why?" Followed very shortly afterwards with, "Why not?" Slightly unsure how something which happened in 1565 has an "anniversary" in 2024. Also mildly interesting to note, considering this is an MoJ post, that the Wikipedia page for Sark makes no mention of the "Sark Lark". But... let's celebrate anyway 🍾

Our game-changing Short Courses are helping prisoners and women struggling with perinatal mental health issues feel valued, seen and rewarded for learning ✨ “The education system has failed so many people, particularly working-class people,” says Tom Magill, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of ESC Films. “Many leave education with no skills and it’s so difficult to try and find employment, so many people turn to crime out of desperation.” We spoke with @ESCBelfast, a film-making company and arts education charity based in Belfast, specialising in working with people with multi-complex needs about how they've successfully used ASDAN Short Courses since 2003! Recently they've worked with Northern Ireland's high security Maghaberry Prison and the Belfast Trust and Perinatal Mental Health. Two very different settings with the same aim, to transform lives through the power of story-telling. “ASDAN makes it possible for people to achieve because they meet people where they are – not where they should be,” says Tom. And that is one of the financial hidey holes a lot of money earned in the UK can dissappear without proper taxation... why the MOJ sees the need to celebrate this 'relationship ' is worthy of some attention imho....signed.. a pleb
