Very true words. I do think though as we are pushing for greater involvement of our sector into wellness and national health with the great work that is being done. There is still a big gap between public and private leisure. Whilst I understand why some of this is in place, I don't think it should or can be the sole responsibility of the leisure trust sector and we need to find a way to integrate more of the independent and private sector into some of these plans. It seems very obvious that we run a tiered system with leisure trusts on one side and private sector operators on the other there are big profits to be had by all if we can double our penetration rates but like private clubs, leisure centres only attract a certain market and so keeping the status quo as it is won't bring the results we want. A closer relationship will also drive up standards as well as participation. I may have missed something but collaboration across our sector seems as important a place to start as working with the NHS and other organisations

You’ve nailed it—there’s no economic growth without better national health, and that starts with getting people moving.
