Where are The Labour Party aiming? 🎯 With an annual price tag of almost £50 billion, I've been asked if the pensions tax relief might be a target in Rachel Reeves’s first Budget. Why do we think it's at risk? 🤔 With a Chancellor keen on redistributing wealth, cutting the benefits of the highest earners AND raising significant revenue in the process, it would seem an obvious target. I know most people are worried about what Labour’s budget will bring on 30th October. The dust is starting to settle on the Budget announced yesterday. “Unintended consequences” seems to be an immediate theme of discussion. What individual, business or market adjustments will we see… Changes to: inheritance tax on pensions, capital gains rates on shares and sale of businesses, stamp duty on properties, employers national insurance - many subjects were covered. What does the Autumn Budget mean for Financial Planning? Its been a busy week or so digesting the Budget and we have been out and about presenting what it means for individuals and business owners and their financial planning. Here is our short summary of Rachel Reeves' first Labour Budget and the significant adjustments made to key financial planning areas: 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐱 has increased, heightening the appeal of tax-efficient vehicles like ISAs and pensions. 𝐈𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐱 threshold remains frozen until 2030 making inheritance tax planning even more important. 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 in scope for inheritance tax starting 2027. This is currently in consultation with more information to come. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 increases, which may impact business cash flow strategies.
