As we enter Black History Month, three groundbreaking exhibitions open today at Outernet London celebrating Black British Innovation, Creativity & Legacy. ✨THEY WALKED, SO WE COULD RUN, the PIONEERS OF THE SCREEN is an immersive tribute to the Black British pioneers who have shaped and continue to transform the entertainment industry, and celebrates trailblazing actors, directors and online creators in an experience that blends visual storytelling with cutting-edge design. The exhibition shines a spotlight on iconic figures such as John Boyega, Naomi Harris, Thandiwe Newton, and visionary directors like Steve McQueen, Destiny Ekaragha and Michaela Coel. Digital pioneers, including the late Jamal Edwards of SBTV, also take centre stage alongside GenBTV - Generation Black TV as the UK’s largest Black British TV platform. The visual design is created by graphic designer Sam Sheridan, who brings the exhibition to life with a bold & immersive experience that honours Black British achievements while inspiring future generations. ✨ MUSEUM OF BLACK INNOVATION is a first-of-its-kind 3D installation, transforming the OUTERNET into a digital museum celebrating the contributions of Black British innovators across various industries, shining a spotlight on figures who have made monumental impacts on science, business, the arts and more. These include: Dame Margaret Aderin-Pocock for Space Science, Kanya King CBE for Music & Media and Yvonne Thompson CBE for Business & Entrepreneurship, amongst many others. ✨ BLACK HEROES is a youth-inspired tribute to Black British Icons.  In partnership with Young Creators UK, GenBTV - Generation Black TV is unveiling a special exhibition showcasing 12 influential Black figures chosen by young people. Ranging from activists to cultural icons, these figures are celebrated in an engaging visual format accompanied by a powerful spoken word piece written by Chrissie Okorie and performed by artist Jenomé. When Ukraine won Eurovision in 2022 with Sam Ryder as runner up, the United Kingdom were asked to host on behalf of the winning country. Watch as Dan Shipton - Creative Director of Black Skull Creative and Executive Producer and Head of Show Lee Smithurst talk about how an initial small creative idea turned into the reality of the UK hosting the competition and how we should all be using our creativity to make positive change and influence the wider narrative in these dark, divisive political times. Many women are realising later in life that they are neurodivergent as a result of hitting perimenopause and others that already know, can find this time particularly challenging. Understanding the whys behind what's going on, can really help with having self compassion and finding the right support tools.  Sophie Cartledge from Hormones on the blink (who spoke on the Wellness Stage at this year's UK Creative Festival) will be hosting an online workshop about ADHD, Autism & Perimenopause next Wednesday 25th September at 7pm.
