Whew! Conflict Resolution: Peace is a Sweet and Sometimes Annoying Word. - Peace (SWEET) : I will regard it in terms of Social Philosophy (quite Easy). - Peace (ANNOYING) : I will regard it in terms of Social Engineering ( quite difficult). My Bespoke Pioneers thrive on the Annoying part of Peace. They want you to make Peace quickly no matter the Engineering nature of it. Infact they would want you to apply the Engineering nature of Peace to avoid the onset of Conflict if possible. Difficult but doable with lasting returns. To resolve a conflict the beginning will be heard so throw back day, let's go back April 23rd ( Book Day and also Copyright Day). Whispers of the Questions for the Day from my Z-Band, ZASP Binding (collective) Book " Bites of Viands". QUESTIONS: -Did Mira handle the Jack situation seamlessly? - Name one Pioneer Mentor Mira had?

FYI, the 2nd edition of the Routledge Handbook of Peacebuilding, edited by Prof. Roger Mac Ginty, with my updated chapter on "The Limits of Peacebuilding" is scheduled for publication in a few weeks. The timing is particularly appropriate: https://lnkd.in/dXxpix4X Abstract: This chapter maintains a skepticism about peacebuilding. It contrasts the hopes of peacebuilding initiatives and literature with observed evidence of continuing conflict and hostility. The chapter is skeptical of attempts from social-psychology, especially those informed by contact theory, to reconcile people from different identity groups. Despite many peacebuilding initiatives and programs, the chapter does not find measurable evidence that they actually produce pro-peace outcomes. Micro-level peacebuilding initiatives are unable to change macro-level issues and are beholden to issues of power and (in)security. The chapter is in favor of more modest goals, such as conflict management, that recognize division and seek to be realistic.

Join FVA at our next workshop, "Discipline & Conflict Resolution", on Thursday, May 9. Conflict is often seen as either something scary to avoid at all costs or something that needs to be overpowered and eliminated as soon as possible. In both cases, conflict is the enemy and therefore the focus of the intervention. The more someone focuses on the conflict, the more tensions and negative anticipations rise. Conflict is not the problem to be addressed, but an indicator of a deeper need. When that need is identified and addressed the conflict will subside. In other words, once the need is met the conflict will have served its purpose and is no longer necessary. With this perspective, conflict can be embraced as an ally rather than an adversary to be vanquished. In this workshop we will explore the traditional approaches to conflict resolution and expose why they are ineffective. We will then uncover some of the potential needs that the symptom of conflict might be pointing to. Finally, we will take some time to discuss and apply how we can use this knowledge to address real life conflicts that the participants are facing. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gbDXpQYq

“Let us leave the fantasy of conflict-driven resilience in books where it belongs. Our priority should be to resolve, or at least manage, every form of conflict, preventing such from cascading to being destructive.” This is an excerpt from an article written for World Water Week, where I reflected on this year’s Young Professionals Debate. Even after many conflict resolution courses and projects, I wonder if conflict is really necessary to build resilience. You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dhPKMmQF

FYI: Call for Abstracts - The Language of Conflict Resolution: We invite proposals for chapters of a peer-reviewed edited book provisionally titled "The Language of Conflict Resolution". In its broadest sense, conflict is defined by the Danish Centre for Conflict Resolution as a disagreement that leads to tension within and between people. Conflict resolution is a young field of exploration and has included matters of conflict management, peace-building, third party mediation, peace-enforcement, etc. The task of conflict resolution focuses on assisting conf
