Our dedicated team at Thales’ Protected Vehicle Centre of Excellence in Bendigo, Australia, is significantly increasing production of the renowned Bushmasters for the Australian Defence Force. For the past 20 years, the Bushmaster has been manufactured in Bendigo, supporting hundreds of jobs within the local and national supply chain. More than 1,300 Bushmasters have been produced at Thales’ Bendigo facility, with the vehicle being exported to eight nations, including the UK, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Japan. The in-demand platform includes troop-carrier, command, patrol, ambulance variants and more. The latest announcement of 44 additional Bushmasters for the ADF is a significant milestone, continuing to bolster Australia’s national defence capabilities and support the local economy. On October 31, 2024, Canada proudly raised its flag at the Australia Canada United Kingdom Reprogramming Laboratory (ACURL) at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. This marks Canada’s official partnership in programming mission data for F-35 fighter jets. Mission data helps F-35s detect and respond to threats, improving their ability to operate in challenging environments. With Canada’s first CF35A jets arriving in 2026, our involvement ensures that our fleet stays equipped with the latest technology. The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) detachment at ACURL starting with two personnel at ACURL in 2024, will grow to more than 20 by 2027. This partnership shows Canada’s commitment to modernizing defence through international teamwork. #WellEquipped

Kongsberg Defence Australia has secured its first export order for Naval Strike Missile (NSM) Coastal Defence System (CDS) command and control consoles. The NSM CDS command and control console is derived from the NASAMS air defence console currently in service with the Australian Army, sharing common hardware. Components and subsystems for the consoles will be manufactured by Australian companies REDARC Defence & Space, Eylex Pty Ltd, and QPE Advanced Machining. Kongsberg Defence Australia will assemble and test the consoles in its recently opened production and maintenance facility in Mawson Lakes, South Australia. This contract will lead to the creation of up to 30 positions within Kongsberg Defence Australia and the supply chain, further bolstering the local workforce. John Fry, Managing Director of Kongsberg Defence Australia, said "This major export contract, awarded last month, is a huge milestone for Kongsberg Defence Australia. Together with our Australian suppliers, we have demonstrated our determination and competitiveness to be able deliver to an international NSM CDS customer. This will also be our first export under the Commonwealth’s Global Supply Chain Program, so creating opportunities in the international market for our local suppliers is a fantastic outcome.” Erin Hamblin, Global Supply Chain Program Manager for Kongsberg Defence Australia, said “This announcement is a great example of Primes such as Kongsberg Defence Australia building local supply chains by working with Australian industry to provide high technology capabilities for delivery to international customers.” Supply chain mobilisation and preparations for the manufacture of these NSM CDS consoles will begin immediately with deliveries from 2026. The delivery is part of a CDS contract previously signed between Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Poland.
