Today marks an important step for the UK’s engagement with Latin America & the Caribbean as Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds MP announced the appointment of new Trade Envoys. Among them are six dedicated to our region, bringing fresh perspectives and leadership to strengthen trade ties, attract investment into the UK, and create opportunities for British businesses abroad. This new "global growth team" reflects the UK’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with key markets across the Americas, and I am confident their expertise will drive impactful outcomes for both sides. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆'𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) is a critical hub for U.S.–Mexico trade, with its ports of entry facilitating a significant portion of land-based commerce between the two nations. In 2017, the Laredo Customs District alone accounted for over 50% of the $557.5 billion in U.S.–Mexico trade. This underscores the RGV's pivotal role in international trade, contributing substantially to the Texas and U.S. economies. Investing in the RGV's commercial real estate sector supports local economic development and leverages the region's strategic importance in global trade. Enhancing infrastructure and business environments can amplify the RGV's economic impact, fostering growth that extends beyond local communities to international markets.

🌎 CHAMPIONS OF GLOBAL TRADE Port Corpus Christi's U.S. Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ No. 122) partners continue to make the Texas Coastal Bend a powerhouse in international trade! The U.S. Foreign-Trade Zones Board's 2023 Annual Report to Congress substantiates the region's impact on the local and national economy. In 2023, the companies operating in the FTZ 122 service area: ➡ Received over $21 billion worth of foreign and domestic goods. ➡ Exported more than $6 billion of merchandise. ➡ Employed over 11,000 people in the Coastal Bend (Top in Texas!) ➡ Created $12.3 billion in value-added activity.

Paul Drechsler political and economic guest of honor at this last #Patrons dinner organized by the French Chamber of Great Britain in which I had the pleasure of participating, devoted himself in a passionate presentation to an in-depth analysis of the very complex social and economic situation in the #UK 🇬🇧 while highlighting the country's strengths and opportunities for the future. He therefore set out to describe what could happen if #Labor passed in the next elections which should take place this fall. #Labor is in fact perhaps the only socialist party in #Europe placed in such a strong situation, preparing to govern with a majority which promises to be very large but which will have to demonstrate boldness as well as goodness meaning to succeed in your bet. #Brexit, which is undoubtedly the major factor in the deterioration of the British economy, and at the origin of numerous convulsions experienced by the country, should not make us forget that this break with 🇪🇺 was part of a period of severe turbulence. At the start of 2024, numerous reports are emerging on the economic situation of the country 4 years after its exit from the European Union, the question being to see to what extent the experts' forecasts have been confirmed in terms of growth, exports and foreign investments. A subject to which Paul Drechsler returned numerous times during the evening, encouraging the members of the chamber who, obviously also chose the United Kingdom 🇬🇧to develop, or establish their activities there due to the attractiveness and strong potential of the country, to be able to share their positive experiences despite a context and a significantly degraded GDP due to the poor results for the year 2023. If we hear these pro #business arguments developed with talent and conviction by Paul Drechsler, the fact remains that for these French investments 🇫🇷 (and others) to persist and gain followers, it seems inevitable for the United Kingdom to define national regulations in the law of derived from Community legislation so as not to close the doors to the European market. If #Brexit is obviously synonymous with a break with the #EU, the principle of reality with which the country now faces will implicitly force it to adopt a strategy of continuity with the other states of the Union, including #France who occupies a privileged position.
