Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) not supporting Ontario Business? Why is this in Nashville and not in Ontario? This makes no sense. "WE BUILD ONTARIO" .... but our annual general meeting and conference outside of Ontario. . . outside of CANADA 🤔? Missed Opportunities by not having the AGM in Ontario: - Supporting Ontario Businesses and Venues - Chance to schedule tours to buildings actually constructed by Ontario General Contractors - Inability for people to attend because of cost and time (We actually run businesses you know). - Ontario media coverage - Ontario Colleges and Universities being highlighted. This really shows how tone-deaf associations can be. This shows that conferences and tradeshows are really just vacations that can be written off on taxes. #WeBuildOntario #OGCA #Construction #Ontario What do you think of this? 🌟 Celebrating a Historic Collaboration! 🌟 On January 23rd, 2025, the BC First Nations Business Development Association (FNBDA) and the British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) came together to sign a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This landmark agreement signifies a shared commitment to advancing economic reconciliation and fostering meaningful partnerships between BC First Nations and the construction industry. By integrating First Nations perspectives into programs, creating inclusive training opportunities, and promoting fair procurement practices, this collaboration paves the way for a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future for all. A key highlight of this MoU is the formation of a dedicated working group to strategize and implement initiatives that include First Nations in the construction sector, opening doors to new opportunities, partnerships, and growth. Together, we’re building more than structures — we’re building a future rooted in respect, collaboration, and shared success. A heartfelt thank you to Michael Bonshor, Managing Director of FNBDA, and Chris Atchison, President of BCCA, for their leadership and vision. This is a monumental step forward for reconciliation and economic development in British Columbia. #EconomicReconciliation #BCConstruction #FirstNations #Collaboration #Partnerships #InclusiveGrowth

It may still be too soon for some to start thinking about the World Cup following the Euros final on Sunday, but for those responsible for building the infrastructure for these tournaments, it is essential to think ahead. As Helen Waddell discusses in the below article, planning very far in advance can come with its own challenges, because it's difficult to know what the legislative and commercial environment will be like in 10 years’ time, particularly in the context of climate change. #construction #infrastructure #constructionlaw #disputes

Euros and Wimbledon over ... thankfully the Olympics are less than two weeks away! With all these events, the infrastructure is so important to their success. These are some of the future proofing measures needed to manage risk in major infrastructure projects. When you see recognition for an innovative plastic recycling start-up, it give confidence that progress is being made. I've posted about Circular11 before, and their determination to reuse #PlasticWaste in a constructive (pun intended) way to not only stop waste entering the ecosystem, but to replace the consumption of new #FossilCarbon in materials. They've already made some great strides, and seen take-up of their products in many locations and with several applications. Being a local company, and having had a conversation with CEO Benjamin Gibbons about their journey and plans, it's warming to see they've been shortlisted for a national award. Check out the company, what they're doing and what they're offering. Renewable Carbon Initiative #GHG #ClimateCrisis #waste #plastic
We're excited to share that we've been nominated for the HighwaysUK Start-Up of the Year award after our two successful trials with National Highways earlier in the year 🎂 🏎 Asset managers, like the councils and infrastructure bodies that own and/or operate our road and rail network, have a HUGE opportunity to enact change. To tackle the 37% of global emissions that come from construction, we need sustainable procurement practices that encourage low carbon materials to scale - an absolutely urgent but often overlooked part of the problem. And that's what these awards are all about. National Highways have been instrumental to helping us get this far, and we're happy to be able to shout about it!

BPC’s successful approach to Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects was highlighted at a recent PIANC Australia & New Zealand (World Association of Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) event hosted by Port Taranaki as part of the 2024 NZ Ports Engineers Forum. Lee Griffiths, Alex Normandeau, and Kyle Marshall (pictured) used the example of the Seaview Wharf Resilience project, being delivered in Wellington for CentrePort Ltd, to demonstrate the positive delivery outcomes from our approach to the ECI project. The presentation highlighted the successful technical outcomes and collaborative work model developed on the project between BPC and CentrePort.

So, what is a Grey Belt? The revised NPPF introduced the concept of "grey belt" This is land within the Green Belt that makes a limited contribution to its purposes, making it potentially available for development. This includes previously developed land or areas that do not strongly contribute to preventing urban sprawl or the merging of towns. The NPPF now requires LPAs to review Green Belt boundaries under exceptional circumstances, particularly when they cannot meet housing needs through other means
