As Pride Month concludes, this recent article from Kevin Bolduc and and Elizabeth Kelley Sohn highlights critical issues in LGBTQ+ philanthropy: Center for Effective Philanthropy's research reveals LGBTQ+ grantees have less positive experiences with funders compared to their peers. Key findings include: 📊 Only 11% of surveyed grantees identify as LGBTQ+ 📊 LGBTQ+ grantees report lower ratings for funders' understanding of their work and contexts 📊 LGBTQ+ grantees have less positive relationships with funders YouthTruth, an initiative of Center for Effective Philanthropy, agrees that as philanthropists and leaders, we must step up to counter regressive movements and ensure LGBTQ+ individuals are seen, safe, and supported in all aspects of society. Happy Pride Month! Every year, June is our opportunity to celebrate, honor, commemorate, and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. We take a moment to reflect on the past. We pay tribute. We spend time in community with each other. We dance! We remember that each one of us, regardless of our sexual orientation or identity, is worthy of #belonging. So where do we start the celebration? There are so many impactful (and fun) ways to celebrate #Pride. Here are my top three ways to get involved this month: 1. Get Out There: Be a part of your community. Support your local Pride events. Attend fundraisers, parades, marches, and festivals. Donate your time or money. Write your local legislators. Get involved. And read books! 2. Gain Local Knowledge: Do you know the history of Pride Month where you live? What are some of the struggles and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community in your town or city? What are the some of the issues currently being faced right in your backyard? We need to all be better educated because knowledge is key to change. 3. Be an Ally: Stand in solidarity, whether you're a part of the LGBTQ+ community or an #ally. Use your voice and privilege to always speak up. While going to events and celebrations is always a great time, keep in mind that this month is about the fight for #equality, justice, and the right to be who you are. Let's embrace this spirit of diversity and inclusion during Pride Month and beyond. Because when we do, we create spaces where we can all be free to live authentically and thrive. June is PRIDE month 🏳️🌈- Tips from the LGBT Speakers Agency on how to stand with Pride Month.- 1. Organize a charity fundraiser. One of the best ways to celebrate and support the Pride initiative is to take action that makes a genuine impact. Flying a rainbow flag takes a public stance, but if not followed by action it could be considered performative. Giving time through group volunteering opportunities and CSR initiatives at meetings can also make an impact. 2. Book an LGBTQ+ speaker. Their stories will empower and educate attendees. Take boxing promoter turned transgender champion Kellie Maloney, for example—one of the bureau’s most popular speakers. Her speeches reveal the hardships she faced while coming out as a transgender woman and the importance of inclusivity. 3. Offer an Inclusion Workshop. These hands-on training sessions teach attendees how to facilitate LGBTQ+ equality. 4. Evaluate your company’s discrimination and diversity policies. People from different backgrounds are often at a higher risk of discriminatory behavior, whether intentional or not. Due to this, companies must have an efficient and strict discrimination policy in place to protect LGBTQ+ staff, as well as meeting and event attendees. 5. Take a stand in your personal work space. Hanging rainbow flags and banners not only celebrates Pride Month, but it also takes a stand for equality that makes your LGBTQ+ colleagues feel represented.

🌈 A Personal and Professional Milestone 🌈 I’ve often thought of LinkedIn as a purely professional space, and for much of my life, I wasn’t sure how my personal identity fit into that. But today, I’m proud to share that BloomFunding is officially certified by the Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) as an LGBTQ+ owned business. This is a deeply personal milestone for me. For many years, I wasn’t fully comfortable sharing all of who I am in professional settings. It’s taken time (and a lot of self-reflection) to embrace my identity as part of the story behind Bloom Funding—a company built on the values of empathy, inclusion, and community impact. This certification isn’t just a badge for our business; it’s a celebration of the incredible people behind it. Over 50% of our team identifies as LGBTQ+, and each one of us brings our authentic selves to work every day. That authenticity fuels the work we do, the partnerships we build, and the change we want to create in our communities. To be honest, posting this is a step outside my comfort zone. But I’m doing it because I know that visibility matters—not just for me, but for others who might still be figuring out how to bring their whole selves to their work. It's why this year I decided to mentor the #outforbusiness program 2024/2025 which is run by Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) To my LGBTQ+ peers and allies, thank you for paving the way.
