The Urban Land Institute had the pleasure of touring Candela in Southwest Detroit on Tuesday. Owner and founder Paula Anderanin warmly welcomed us, guiding us through the project and sharing its story. Paula's hospitality shone through as she served up delicious food and made us feel right at home in this fantastic space. We eagerly anticipate enjoying live music here and celebrating with the community (check out the amazing events on their calendar for July!). Thanks to all who helped make this happen!

An encouraging statement today from the Council Leader: "The Fringe alone listed a record 3,919 productions this year – featuring performers from no fewer than 50 countries. We mustn’t forget, however, just how important the tourist industry is to our city, generating £2.7bn of visitor spend each year, and creating and sustaining well over 30,000 jobs. The festivals alone support 7,000 jobs, contributing £407m to the local economy. Beyond that, of course, it affords us, as residents, the choice of restaurants, bars and other attractions that simply wouldn’t exist otherwise. The ongoing health and success of our festivals also underlines just how important culture is to our residents, as well as our visitors, reinforcing Edinburgh’s - and Scotland’s – reputation on the world stage. That’s exactly why I’m calling on the Scottish Government to urgently set out their plans for long-term investment in our culture sector." Cllr Cammy Day, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council (Leaders Report), 20 August 2024 #VisitorEconomy #Tourism #Events #Edinburgh #EdinburghFestivals

Events based on local wisdom are gatherings or activities that are organized in alignment with the values, beliefs, and traditions of a particular community or culture. These events celebrate and promote the unique heritage and knowledge that have been passed down through generations. By incorporating local wisdom into events, organizers aim to preserve and promote cultural identity, foster a sense of community, and showcase the rich traditions that define a particular way of life. Such events often involve traditional rituals, ceremonies, performances, crafts, and foods that are reflective of the local culture. In essence, events based on local wisdom serve as a means of honoring and preserving the cultural heritage and values that are deeply rooted in a specific community.

Goodness, a world away, a lifetime ago – but oh what an experience to learn and analyse the ecosystem of an outstanding customer experience provider. From back of house, through the service line to front of house and the systems and procedures in between – I feel lucky to have had a taste of this glorious playground and how each and every touch-point can create a memorable moment! I remember writing a report about my time at Gleneagles – a study requirement to complete your practical. Not only was it reflective on my personal learnings there, but it was an observation about an ecosystem of care. Care for their customers, staff, the environment and wider community. Gleneagles operational excellence was wrapped around their total quality management in practice, with a focus on continuous improvement. ISO qualified and committed to the very best standards, yet relaxed, welcoming, warm and well, glorious! These foundations are still invaluable to formulating true human-led CX today. Blending technology, storytelling, service design and culture. Invaluable parts to a wholistic CX ecosystem, no matter your seniority or skill set. I still can't recommend enough how hospitality experience can inform and enrich real-time understanding of real customer needs, empathy, emotion, pressure and expectations in the flesh. If you want to explore more about their commitment today, check out their impact here for a taste of how they define their glorious: gleneagles.com/our-impact What a legacy to own 100 years on - here's to 100 more! 🙏 👏🥂🍾🦅🚂💨⛳️
100 Years of The Glorious Playground 🥂 100 years ago on this day, the 7th June 1924, we opened the doors to The Gleneagles Hotel. Our magnificent countryside estate in the heart of Scotland was described as a “Riviera in the Highlands” and the media hailed it “the eighth wonder of the world”. Cocktails poured from taps; lively dancing in our ballroom was broadcast across the nation on BBC radio; glamorous guests raced each other by land, air and sea to get here first; and princes, playwrights and poets spent entire summers on our croquet lawn in a haze of Champagne. Going into 2024 as a multi-award winning estate, we reflect on our history, spanning high times and wartimes and look towards the next 100 years alongside our inaugural Edinburgh home, Gleneagles Townhouse. Gleneagles beats with a warm heart and is a home from home – a welcoming place where our people and guests feel they truly belong. On our 100th Anniversary we thank everyone who has been part of our story so far, and our story still to come. #LoveGlen #TheGloriousPlayground

🌟 Nurturing Connections: The Essence of Sacred Hospitality in Latino Culture 🌟 In the vibrant tapestry of Latino culture, there exists a profound tradition that goes beyond mere hospitality - it's a sacred art form deeply rooted in our heritage: hospitalidad sagrada (sacred hospitality). This cherished practice isn't just about welcoming guests; it's about creating a haven, a safe and brave space where every visitor feels not just accommodated, but truly embraced. ✨ At the heart of sacred hospitality lies a commitment to nurturing connections and fostering a sense of belonging. It's about weaving a tapestry of warmth and kindness, where guests are not just received, but cherished as an integral part of the family. In Latino households, this tradition is passed down through generations, ingrained in the very fabric of our cultural identity. 🌟🌿 But what makes hospitalidad sagrada (sacred hospitality) in Latino culture truly special is its ability to create a sanctuary, a space where guests can be their authentic selves without fear or judgment. It's about celebrating diversity, honoring differences, and cultivating a sense of unity amidst the richness of our cultural mosaic. In a world often marked by uncertainty and division, sacred hospitality (hospitalidad sagrada) serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the power of human connection and compassion. 💫 Moreover, this tradition isn't confined to the walls of our homes; it extends to every interaction, every encounter, infusing our communities with a spirit of generosity and camaraderie. Whether it's sharing a meal, lending a listening ear, or offering a helping hand, sacred hospitality is a testament to the resilience and compassion of Latino culture. As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, let us hold fast to the timeless wisdom of sacred hospitality. Let us continue to create spaces where all are welcome, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Together, let us build a world where kindness reigns supreme, and where every guest - be it a friend, a stranger, or a kindred spirit - finds solace, support, and sanctuary. 🌍 #SacredHospitality #HospitalidadSagrada #LatinoCulture #Community #Inclusion #SafeSpace #BraveSpace #Unity #Compassion #CulturalHeritage #ConnectionBuilding
