… You’re meeting someone for the first time over coffee, connecting at a networking event. … You notice someone standing next to you in the lobby before an appointment or walking down the street. We all have preconceived judgments about others. 😲 Despite our best efforts to avoid them, it's a natural part of being human‼ The key is how we handle these initial impressions—whether we let them define who the person is, what their journey has been like, and how they will interact with us throughout the day 💡 Or do we…. approach someone and take the opportunity to learn about their journey. You can ask about how they arrived at where they are today, what has guided them, what they find joyful, and what challenges they’ve faced 💛 Only by doing this can you truly understand the person sitting across from you. Knowing their story and their path gives you a deeper appreciation for them as an individual. This understanding fosters a more meaningful relationship and a greater compassion for who they are. 🍻 Cheers to getting to know someone you might not have otherwise reached out to! 🍻 Cheers to understanding their journey and wanting to learn more about them. 🍻 Cheers to new connections and shared stories! 🍻 Cheers to Mini Beers With Buddies, Brandon Kuschel #MiniBeersWithBuddies #CUDifference #UnitedWeMakeADifference #PassionMatters #RelationshipBuilding #SCFCU #BusinessMembers #LetsGo #EngageCuriosityCreativityChange #StCloudFinancialCreditUnion #Cheers

Today is R U OK? Day - a yearly reminder of the impact a simple conversation can have, and the importance of checking in with friends, family, and colleagues to extend support to one another. We spend a great deal of time at work building relationships with our colleagues, so we encourage our team to notice changes in someone who may not be feeling themselves or could use some extra support. It's not always easy to ask the question, so we all got together for our Connection Day, and with the help of Tony Grey, discussed the steps we can take to ask those around us, R U OK? In addition to asking the question, it's also important to remember not everyone is ready to talk - and that's OK. Let them know you're there for them when they are ready to talk. Let's all look after one another today and every other day 💛 🖤

Word of the week is a day late, as I took yesterday off. My word this week is: Connect As a reminder, choosing a word it’s a great practice, to set an intention for the week ahead or it might be to celebrate yourself in some way. Whatever resonates for you. I find my rocks to be hugely beneficial to see what word jumps out at me and why. The next step is defining your word it for yourself and its relevance to you right now. Connect, this week, has a lot to do with followup for me. I have many people and things I need and want to reconnect with and follow up on. Proposals, conversations, follow up actions, and more. Whats your word for the week?

There are certain sayings we come across throughout our lives that stick with us and maybe even get adopted as personal mantras. My mom always tells me the importance of BEING MY OWN BEST FRIEND. To me, this means being your own support system, your #1 cheerleader, feeling at ease in your skin, and enjoying your own company. San Antonio hosts great events, with one of the biggest being Fiesta. Side note- I've asked multiple people about the meaning of Fiesta, but haven't received any confident answers (please share your take). Circling back, last Friday, I decided to "hangout" with myself and walked to Houston Street to watch the Battle of the Flowers parade... (Yes- Tom Cuthbert, I did take the afternoon off 😊). I spent 2 hours leaning against a wall, watching the parade pass by, and surprisingly, I didn't feel uncomfortable being alone. The people-watching was top notch. I took photos of a family so they could all be captured in the moment. Conversation with myself was great (I would go on another solo date). The perks of enjoying your own company: 1. You do EXACTLY what you want to 2. You are on your own schedule 3. Don't have to worry if your company is enjoying themselves Moving to a new city where I didn't have deep connections with anyone has given this lesson a whole new significance for me. I've grown comfortable with going for a drink alone or a restaurant solo. I've realized that I can't always wait for my friends' schedules to align or for someone with similar interests to join me in doing what I want. Of course we have others in our lives, but the reality is, the only person from start to finish is ourselves.. So ask yourself, are you your own best friend? #CSandlerLinkedinChallenge

Helping people live life by design...not by default while navigating major life transitions. |Career Changes, Readying for Retirement, Caring for Loved Ones & Empty Nesting|
Self-Consciousness keeps us “safe”; however, on the flip side it prevents us from the joy we can have by fully expressing ourselves and sharing all that we are with others. I am challenging myself over the next 5 days to do at least one thing differently, shedding the self-conscious amour to share a bit more of me and who I am. I started today at a networking event, where I spoke more about what I do and what I have done rather than remaining in the safety zone of listening and observing. Let me know in the comments if you are up for joining me in this Shedding Self-Consciousness Challenge.
