Starting today at 9:00 AM, you can experience it at the Ideen Expo in Hannover, located in Hall Nine on the Mobility Mile, right next to the stands of BMW Group and MTU Aero Engines. I really like the *concept* of the #SpacetopG1, but demerits for a tethered 1080p display, and a bulged, zipped casing. There is no reason why the glasses can't be flat, especially if they're tethered and the laptop is doing all the "work." See the comments for a video showing just that. Additionally, if one is going to drop $2k+ on a system like this, one they intend to use nearly all day, then one *should* be able to get a setup that lets one swap out the default mirror lenses for Rx. Otherwise, it’s going to become bulky and heavy for all-day wear. That’s a non-starter for nearly everyone. Everyone making #wearables, especially #smartglasses, should have something like this baked into their supply chain. You are harming your business model by ignoring 75% of the market if you don’t. 3/4 of the adult human population require some form of corrective eyewear to see properly. Making a device that doesn’t suit the needs of the majority who can afford your product, makes it very niche. Alternatively, others have approached this problem with metamaterials where the lens itself can be altered to suit an Rx. I don’t know why, but I just picture Steve Jobs delighting at being shown something like this, and then going apoplectic once shown the zippered casing, and firing everyone. That’s my gut-level revulsion to this design as it is. I love the idea, haaaaate the execution.
