This video is for store owners and retailers who are looking for inspiration to improve customer experience, retention and repeat business through product engagement.
It's from my 2018 visit to Babybanden in Oslo, Norway and I have shortened the original video to a few highlights. These examples are all transferrable to any retail category. They're low-cost measures to implement with meaningful and measurable impact. It really doesn't matter if you're in the baby stroller business, toys, music equipment, tools & hardware, powersports or automotive aftermarket.
I love good retail. Before getting into manufacturing, I came from independent retail. The idea of letting customers engage with products rather than only displaying products on the shelf was always important to us and it stuck with me. When I heard what Babybanden did in Oslo, I had to see it. This video is 6 years old now but remains relevant. It's still top of mind as a customer and supplier.

Everyone, The first rule of retail is to make sure your customers have a reason to visit your store. I'm in Oslo and Norway to visit baby Bendon. They have it all figured out. Let's go inside and find out how they did. You have to give your customer a really compelling reason to visit your store. Here's an example from Baby Benton. This is a product for airline travel. I'm not going to talk about the product, but I will show you how Baby Ben created an experience around this product. So instead of just putting it on the shelf, they created this. They set up a row of airline seats. Let me just unbuckle myself. They set up the product. So you can test it, you can unfold it, pack it up, install it on the seat, and you can sit right next to it to see what this. The true experience of using this product is really like. Baby Benton does this throughout the store. Let's keep going. Baby Benton sells strollers. They sell a lot of strollers. There are so many different brands in here, but instead of just putting strollers on the shelf, they create real experiences. Let's go check it out. First of all, they've created a first, second and third place of bestsellers. But it doesn't end there because with over 100 different strollers in here. You need more than you know the three top sellers to make your right buying decision. Come over here. So how do you create the ultimate stroller experience in your store? Well, let me show you. You create the stroller test track. You let your customers pick any stroll on the shelf anywhere in the store, and you let them walk around on different surfaces, on grass, on interlocking stones, on gravel to see how one stroller compares to the other. This is customer experience right here. This is a test center, It's experience center. It is Everything center. So if you want to stand out from other retailers, take a look at this. Doesn't matter what you're selling. Office supplies. Hunting, sporting goods, ATV's, Dirt bikes, tools, power tools, professional tools, consumer tools. For you customer experiences, this is how it's done. Alright, this may seem silly, but in my experiences this right here is overlooked by the vast majority of retailers that I visit. Nice, clean and easily accessible bathrooms. It is so important, and of course because this particular store is geared towards infants and toddlers. You'll find a breastfeeding room and a diaper changing room. How's that for customer service? Have you ever shopped around for a car seat for your child? Well, in this store, not only can you see the products on the shelf, you can actually install the products right here on car seats installed right here in the store. So you can see how easy they are to install, take them out, etcetera. But baby Benton takes it a step further. You can actually drive your car into the store and the staff here will help you install your car seats. And that's what we'll do right now. OK, so I'm going to take my car now and drive it inside the store to install the baby seat. Check this out. Literally driving my car in here, how awesome is this? And the staff in here is all trained and educated on how to install the seats property. So this is a store manager, Purandare, and he's about to install the car seat in my little rental car. And so this story just keeps on giving. You see this long table here? Well, this table is not just a showroom display. You can actually book this table. So if you're a new parent, you want to hang out with other new parents. You can book this table, bring your friends down with their kids, and you can sit here and have coffee, tea, cake. All you have to do is call the store and book it. There is no charge. But it doesn't end there. We're going to go upstairs and see a conference room where you can. Learn first aid, yoga, et cetera, et cetera. We'll go upstairs and check it out. I called it a conference room, but it's it's really a very, very versatile room. So you can book this room for anything from yoga to first aid classes. It's right here on the top floor of Baby Benton. Think about how you can set something up similar in different industries if you're selling power sports again or tools and hardware, whatever it is you're selling. Imagine if you had a room like this upstairs or in the back that your customers could book for for related programs like product related programs. This is just one more, one more thing that stands out, the baby bending.

Spielwarenmesse 2024. Outcomes.
Sharing our impressions of Spielwarenmesse 2024, we can’t but start with one very important fact: we launched a new brand in 2020, which wasn’t a favourable period of time, and our sales started in conditions of the overall market decline in most countries, however, we managed to make a real breakthrough in the global market!😎
The Trade Fair was very important for us not only as an opportunity to expand our sales territories, but also as a chance to evaluate results of our products launch in new markets in 2023. Currently, Kids Hits toys can be bought in 20 countries, our toys already talk in 7 languages and occupy prominent places on shelves in stores, demonstrating a steady growth in sales. We put lots of love in toys production and pay close attention to details - and the global market responds in kind, showing that we have been moving in the right direction. We have been building up the momentum!
Our partners visited us in person to share results of the successful progress (very inspiring!), and we discussed the prospects of further development and made plans.
The major outcomes of the exhibition appeared to be confirmation of cooperation with 8 new countries as well as the fact that our toys are going to be adapted to at least 5 new languages! Indeed, we want children's favourite toys use the same language as the little ones do, which will make learning at play even more fun and effective🤓.
Despite the fact that the total number of visitors of Spielwarenmesse 2024 on the whole was smaller in comparison with the previous year, we were pleased to see our booth crowded with the quality (target) audience.

Good product overall. Had a fun time using it. Given the price tag, there's nothing much to complain about. Good audio output, decent bass, monster battery life, and all that in under Rs 2,000.
