It happened again … A salon did a huge expansion into a bigger beautiful space and the team walked out. Loosing 1 book/ stylist is one thing but loosing several stylist, you are looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars leaving the business. I never understood why in the salon industry this is always the case. At first everyone is excited sharing the news of a new location, then the grand opening party, daily post of the new environment etc. Then one day they all leave, and to different salons… Is it because the owners change? Is it because the employee becomes jealous and or spiteful at the owners success? How does an owner recover from a devastating blow to their business? Most people don't realize how much this matters. When I designed this salon space, I thought about all of the ways I could improve it in comparison to our last space. One thing I always noticed was salon guests juggling their laptop, their device and their beverage in their lap. So we built them a bar. I may be walking on it like it's a fashion runway in this photo. :) But usually our guests are sitting at it having a snack and a drink or getting some work done while their hair processes. If you've gotta be at the salon for a while, why not do what you want with your time there? Creating sensational experiences is our priority, and it makes such a huge difference to the entire business. I encourage you to think of ways you can improve your customers' experiences. And it doesn't have to involve construction. Every little detail contributes. #businessowner

Made this the other day. No sketches or research, I opened Blender and just went head first into creating something. The only thing I knew I wanted was products 'defying gravity' somehow. Estee Lauder product was made from internet reference images and the cube just evolved naturally as I played with pulling and inserting faces.
