In recent years, HSE has led the way in integrating terrestrial and aerial LiDAR scanning into our surveying projects, particularly in municipal infrastructure. However, many engineers and municipal clients have yet to fully embrace the technological advancements available for their survey requests. We invite you to explore a recent scan we completed for the City of Mansfield in the link below. This user-friendly program runs directly in your browser, requires no downloads, and allows users to take measurements and view the entire project area in 3D. During a single site visit, our survey crew captured a wealth of data—including inlet widths, light pole heights, power line clearances, lane widths, and tree diameters/heights—all of which can be easily measured within the program. Rail maintenance - capturing 2 million points per second with the Amberg Technologies IMS5000 on-track surveying system. I talked to Ben Culley at Rail Live on the Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon stand about how 3D models can be created on tracks of varying widths to millimetre accuracy with data exported into a wide variety of software solutions. Ben: “This is such a simple system to use. Not only are we capturing key data, but we can also use the onboard tablet to perform a live running measure of clearance profiles, which are critical for hand back and safe permissible speeds. “By also using the 2m points captured per second to create 3D models we can help teams identify the key parts of the track that need maintenance or repair, saving time and resources.” #railmaintenance #raillive #surveying #railsurvey
