Level Up Your Software Development Knowledge: SWEBOK v4 is here! Software engineers, project managers, and anyone passionate about building quality software – this one's for you! I went through the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) v4, and I'm impressed by its comprehensive coverage of the field. From early software development stages (requirement) to software validation (a particular interest of mine!), the book provides a valuable resource for anyone involved in the software development lifecycle. Here's why I found SWEBOK v4 particularly interesting: It details the core knowledge areas of software engineering, encompassing topics from software requirements, design, construction, testing, maintenance, configuration management, software engineering management, software engineering process, software quality, software engineering models and methods, software engineering economics, and software engineering professional practice. It also covers computing foundations, mathematical foundations, and standards and ethics. The document outlines a comprehensive framework for developing and maintaining software, with a focus on best practices, standards, and considerations for professional development. Whether you're a seasoned software professional or just starting out, SWEBOK v4 serves as a valuable resource to enhance your knowledge and skills. The free PDF is available here: Link (https://lnkd.in/dWDW3pjp) What are your favorite resources for staying up to date on software development best practices? *GREAT NEWS* We have recently carried out a couple of cFATs with different clients/customers. We then politely ask for feedback, and we are delighted to advise that both cFATs received 10/10, with comments such as “cFAT finished ahead of schedule” and “Good discussions/problem solving around some of the outstanding questions”. Please help me congratulate one of our Senior Engineers, Paul, our Junior Engineer, Elliot, and one of our Apprentice Engineers, Cameron on their excellent feedback results. Feedback, we believe, is vital in supporting our Engineers and helps us as a business to identify our strengths and weaknesses which then leads us to become a better supplier and a better employer. #nothingventurednothinggained Well done gents, curry night is on us!! #siemens #siemenspartners #certification #s7 #plc #hmi #softwareengineering #softwareengineerjobs #controlsystems #controlsystemsengineer #controlpanel #tiaportal #sitrain #systemsengineering #systemsengineer #systemintegration #systemsintegrator #systemsintegration #s71200 #s71500 #simatic #digital #mcc #motorcontrol #scada #programming #plcprogramming #plcprogrammer #plcsiemens #plctraining #plcladderlogic #customerservice #proud #yorkshirebusiness #smallbusiness

I help people in Systems & Requirements succeed at their jobs quickly. To explore if or how I can help your engineering project or career with my courses or trainings, grab a spot on my Calendly below.
Systems Engineers: What will you incorporate for the New Year? For me, it’s adding to my “Not To-Do List” I was slightly overcommitted last year, and that will need to change. How? 1. I plan to start with the OUTCOMES I’m trying to achieve 2. Use the Pareto Principle to determine the “vital few” that will move that particular outcome forward. 3. Put the “vital few” items in the calendar - maybe not to the day, but at least to the week or month. Then when the week comes, pencil out when in the week I’ll get to it. Case in point? Learning SysML from Lenny Delligatti, CSEP, OCSMP, OCUP ‘s course. I’ve had it for a few months, and am only about 6 hours in. I’ll get there, but if I want it to happen, I’ll need to schedule the sessions. It’s about 50 hours total, plus study for the certification. Otherwise, the urgent-but-NOT-important will simply take over. Comment below, what you will try! #systemsengineering #paretoprinciple #timemanagement
