Apparently, the astronomical cost is no object because it is never mentioned. Not in the law, roadmap, or various technical support documents. Jobs are frequently mentioned, but they are part of the cost. But then, too, there is the much larger cost of the energy transition, without which the floating wind is simply not usable.

"Tidal kites," these innovative devices resemble aircraft but serve a different purpose entirely: generating electricity from ocean currents. These high-tech tidal turbines capture the energy of tidal flows, converting it into sustainable electricity. Anchored to the seabed, tidal kites "fly" underwater, driven by tidal streams. Their wing-like structures enable them to move swiftly, maximizing energy extraction from even slow currents. Tidal kites offer a reliable and eco-friendly energy solution, as tides are predictable and consistent. Unlike wind and solar power, tidal energy can provide a continuous power source, reducing dependency on fossil fuels. The movement of wind turbines and their rotating components, along with vibration sources in the drivetrain at the nacelle, produce vibrations through various excitation mechanisms. These vibrations travel down the tower and into the ocean, resulting in noise emissions. This noise spans a broad frequency range, from just a few hertz up to several kilohertz, overlapping considerably with the auditory ranges of many marine species. While this operational noise is unlikely to cause direct physical damage, it can still affect marine life by altering behaviors, impacting migration routes, and disrupting predator-prey dynamics. In this presentation, I will detail the measurements conducted near the Hywind Tampen floating wind farm and discuss the methods for estimating source levels. The focus will be on an overview of the measurement setup, with a more comprehensive analysis to follow. The data used was collected from a recorder mounted on an oceanographic mooring, which included additional recording devices and various oceanographic sensors.
