Data strategy in Europe will change completely with the Data Act that entered in force in January 2024. A new #digitaldecade is going to start in Europe with it. With the digital, user-centred transport services we aim for at ULTIMO project this is extremely relevant for us. So we are very grateful for the #keynote of our project partner Arthur van der Wees this morning. He showed us the contents of the Data Act and what opportunities the law unleashes. His advice on data strategy and design is absolutely invaluable to us. #Datasharing is useful and important for so many reasons. When it comes to driving change that will beneficially impact the climate and the air that we breathe, then that's to be applauded. Very proud that IOTICS is part of #SEACHANGE, an Innovate UK funded #ZEVI project led by Portsmouth International Port, providing #data #interoperability, securely and selectively, across a federated network of partners: https://lnkd.in/g3ZwTym8

ℹ Today, the EuroGOOS Data Management, Exchange, and Quality Working Group #DataMEQ meeting in Bologna, hosted by the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, gathered 26 experts to advance European marine data harmonisation. This hybrid event explored key 2024 topics: data traceability, AI, and cloud-native workflows to enhance the European oceanographic data infrastructure. Led Thierry Carval from Ifremer, the EuroGOOS DataMEQ Working Group plays a crucial role in enhancing the harmonisation and integration of European marine data. With support from major marine data initiatives—Copernicus Marine Service (CMEMS), SeaDatanet, EMODnet, JERICO-RI European Infrastructure Next, and the project AtlantOS (Optimising and Enhancing the Integrated Atlantic Ocean Observing Systems) — the group is advancing strategies for comprehensive data management, setting standards for data quality control, and addressing the requirements for both real-time and delayed observation data. 🔗 Read more about the DataMEQ Working Group: https://lnkd.in/eVqMyvgG
🌊 FAIR-EASE project is present at today's EuroGOOS, European Global Ocean Observing System DATAMEQ Working Group meeting. The EuroGOOS Data Management, Exchange, and Quality (DATAMEQ) Working Group is a crucial hub for harmonising and integrating #marine data across Europe. Working closely with initiatives like CMEMS, SeaDataNet, and EMODnet, the group sets standards and improves access to real-time and historical observations. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dDHsda3z

By leveraging MobilityData's General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), activations across the country are laying the foundation for universal basic mobility, financial inclusion, and equitable access within the transportation sector. With the recent adoption of #Flex into the specification and the momentum behind #FaresV2 development, we are going to see much more happening on the horizon. Join me at ITSA on April 23rd for a panel discussion on "Building blocks to better societies: Data-enabled equity initiatives in transportation" with industry experts Elliott McFadden MNDoT, Alexander Kapur, CityFi, Anat Caspi, PhD, UW- Taskar Center, Avital Shavit, La Metro, and Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS)'s Jordan Riddle . As the moderator, I look forward to tapping into the experiences and expertise of my fellow panelists who are already leveraging the standard to improve environmental and equitable outcomes in their communities. #GTFS #TransportationEquity #MobilityData #ITSA #DataEnabledSocieties

There’s at least two digitalisation projects in the #CaspianSea. A beautiful project from Aselle Tasmagambetova Central-Asian Institute for Environmental Research (CAIER) to equip #Caspianseals with portable, flexible and multifunctional sensors made of graphene. https://lnkd.in/eSrufTN3 “The Caspian Sea Digital Twin” by P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences – Russian Federation https://lnkd.in/eSuvvUWu (which we mentioned earlier, but not really sure the project has a cloudless future). Please comment, if know more! #oceandecade #oceandata
To move from the ocean we have to the ocean we want, we need relevant, timely, reliable and accessible ocean data, information and knowledge – and private industry has a key role to play in this endeavour. Issued at the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference by the Ocean Decade Corporate Data Group, the Call to Action on Ocean Data Sharing provides guidance for organisations of all backgrounds to facilitate the public sharing of private-sector ocean data in support of ocean science and the development of a sustainable ocean economy.
