Human performance optimization in the military is more than just performance enhancement. It’s about investment in our greatest assets….our #warfighters Optimizing and preserving the performance of our warriors not only enhances combat capabilities, but is critical to the long term health, well being, and future effectiveness of our military 💡 Shifting focus to “left of bang” means that Commanders can focus on readiness and mission accomplishment, not medical absences Pictured: Briefing this very message at the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps’ Symposium. Worth noting that of those that were in attendance to this brief, one is now our current #SEAC and the other, the current SMMC. The future is hopeful for the advancement of HPO. #leadership #humanperformance #holistichealthandfitness #military #marines #marinecorps #semperfi #semperfidelis #army #navy #airforce #coastguard #spaceforce #health #wellness #fitness #tacticalathlete #performance #combat #specialoperations #woundedwarriors

The Offense is the decisive form of warfare. As the Russians and Ukrainians have recently reminded us, it is also extremely difficult. American ability to maneuver against greatly outmatched opponents in Iraq and Afghanistan may have created an impression that we are somehow immune from this dynamic. In this article, LTC Jennings discusses six "considerations" for developing the force structure and doctrine necessary to achieve operational success against near-peer opponents on a future battlefield. Does the U.S. Army have the ability to think clearly on these considerations as it mans/trains/equips for the current and future forces? Let us hope so.
As the US Army modernizes for large-scale combat operations, an examination of the war in #Ukraine and the 1940 Battle of France could provide insights for penetrating organized defenses in an era of high #technology, writes the author of a new paper. Lt. Col. Nathan Jennings, an Army strategist and associate professor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, writes that the Germans achieved #victory against French and British forces in 1940 with a combination of “intentional, incidental and accidental asymmetries that allowed them to penetrate and exploit the most imposing defensive construct of their era.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eEaB_gFq

What the SMA describes is war on a scale unfathomable to Americans today, but all too real for the Ukrainians. Our strategic environment is bringing us closer to this reality than we have been in a long time. If you’re in the Defense space your day to day activities are either deterring aggression or promoting it - Train hard; Accelerate Modernization; Deliver Capability; and Project Strength
Combat isn’t war. America hasn’t been to war since World War II, when the entire American population and industry were mobilized. The US Army, and our military, have achieved the unthinkable through GWOT combat; but all out war is a different game. To discuss how the US Army is preparing for the next fight and the potential for war against a near peer adversary, I traveled to the Pentagon to sit down with Sergeant Major of the Army Mike Weimer to define professional warfighting and the importance of an all volunteer force. We broke down the art and science relationship between commissioned and non-commissioned officers. The SMA shared how his experience in the Special Forces shadows prepared him for the limelight of the SMA role. And we talked about the future, including his vision for solving the recruiting challenge, how warfare is evolving from the kill chain to the kill web, how he’s planning to retain the right people, and how the integration of Special Operations and the regular Army is more important now than ever. Combat in the GWOT vs. War in Large Scale Combat Operations is the difference between service members engaged in teams or singular units and the whole-of-the-nation engaged! Give the SMA a listen.

This line of reasoning deserves more credit than most realize. A near peer fight will have detrimental consequences, effects, technological unseen consequences, and require more human capital than many wars before. This is why our training and troop readiness must continue to improve and remain resilient throughout the entire DoD. #traintolead #traintowin

Combat effectiveness and success on the battlefield…. Leaders are uniquely postured in the military chain of command to directly influence a culture of enhanced human performance for a more ready & resilient force. Want to know the ROI on human performance optimization? ♠️ Superiority in combat fitness ♠️ Enhanced executive decision making under stress ♠️ Increased ability to sustain performance ordinarily degraded by operational stress and/or sustained operations ♠️Mental agility and improved cognitive performance Not making time to integrate human performance into the training plan and MET’s means a compromise in maintaining the tactical advantage. Leadership is essential in shifting the paradigm of focus towards the optimal performance of the operational forces. #leadership #humanperformance #holistichealthandfitness #holistichealth #military #marines #marinecorps #semperfi #semperfidelis #army #navy #airforce #coastguard #spaceforce #health #wellness #fitness #tacticalathlete #decisionmaking #performance
