The energy and commitment of such people drive the emergence of projects and initiatives that transform society. Together with NGOs supporting various fields, we had a conversation with Mădălina Gheorghe (Business Director, Mantia AdAgency) and Liviu Țurcanu (Creative Director, Mantia & Mercury360) about fundraising campaigns, and more importantly, how agencies can better get involved to gather the necessary resources to support community projects and initiatives. A confident step for a BETTER TOMORROW. #mantia #designed4better #CNF2024

From individuals to entire organisations, we all have the power to make a difference. 💙 During the Business with Heart event organised by UNHCR Belgium & Luxembourg at TheMerode on 17 September we were reminded of the necessary role that businesses and communities can play in supporting people who are forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or disasters. As Jeny BSG put it: "Everyone can do something." Whether through raising awareness, offering financial donations, or developing initiatives, we all have the ability to contribute to solutions that restore dignity, hope, and opportunities to displaced people around the world. Now more than ever, it’s crucial to unite our efforts and leverage the strengths of the private sector to address this global challenge and create a meaningful impact. #RefugeeSupport #CorporateResponsibility #SocialImpact #ESG #CSRD #WithRefugees #ImpactFinance #Congo #Lebanon

For the past few years, I've had the privilege of serving as an Advisor for HELP for Domestic Workers, a charitable organisation committed to providing crucial education, support, and mental health services to Hong Kong’s migrant domestic workers. In Hong Kong, domestic workers play a vital role in many households, but what some may not realise is that organisations like HELP face significant barriers in accessing funding opportunities due to their focus on migrant domestic workers. This is because these workers, despite being essential to the well-being of many, are not recognized as Hong Kong residents. This is why I encourage everyone in my network to think about becoming a monthly donor to HELP. What better way to show that Hong Kong's migrant caregivers are an integral part of Hong Kong's future and success? It doesn’t take a lot to support a domestic worker - a monthly donation of HKD 1,000 can provide case counselling support to a worker in crisis. Please consider donating to this impactful organisation here https://lnkd.in/g7c5WDiK Collectively your contributions make an enormous impact!

As a charity that designs and delivers citizens assemblies and many other participatory processes, it's been great to see the growing amount of conversations that are being had about the potential of #citizensassemblies to help rebuild trust in our political institutions, including this from The Rest is Politics. 🗣️ "I think citizens' assemblies are actually a fantastic thing, not just in Britain, but actually in the US and elsewhere, to revive democracy" Listen to the full episode 🔊👇 https://lnkd.in/eesw7jYN

One of the amazing things about working for CCD is the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. This week, we learned about the unrest in Bangladesh from a friend, a story we might not have known without our intentional efforts to build authentic relationships. At CCD, we believe in justice and the value of all people, and we strive to share the stories of others to foster empathy and compassion. How You Can Help: 1. Stay Informed:Educate yourself about the situation by following reliable news sources and updates. Awareness is the first step toward making a difference. 2. Support NGOs: Donate to or volunteer with non-governmental organizations working on the ground in Bangladesh to provide relief and support to affected communities. 3. Raise Awareness: Use your social media platforms to share information about the situation. Amplify the voices of those affected and encourage others to get involved. Getting out of your comfort zone and building relationships with people who are different from you can be hard and it can require you to share in each other’s burdens when hard and heavy things are happening, but the value of community and coming together is well worth the effort. Take a moment to read the link in our story and do some research on the situation in Bangladesh❤️💚 #SupportBangladesh #GlobalAwareness #JusticeForAll

A new blog from me today at FoRB Women's Alliance! Across the globe, the issues of freedom of religion or belief and women's rights areas are deeply intertwined. Yet funders in these areas are siloed from each other, and often don't see the other thread of the issue as important to their cause. My advice: Fundraisers in this knotty problem need to show how the funder's goal is tied to both threads together. Feel free to reach out to me for more advice at the intersection of #religion and #philanthropy.
Just as women face unique challenges in freedom of religion and belief (FoRB), the projects that seek to address those challenges also face obstacles, not least of which is having sufficient funding to operate. Allison K. Ralph shares insight and advice on raising funds for your NGO. https://lnkd.in/egq2s3V5

A lack of social capital undermining local council effectiveness. Social capital is the invisible web of relationships, trust, and shared norms that arise from group interactions. It has historically thrived in local communities through participation in clubs, charities, and religious organisations. However, as participation in these vital institutions has sharply declined stores of social capital in our communities and between our communities and local councils has eroded. This erosion has a significant impact on new councillor groups. Without a store of social capital to draw on misunderstanding, mistrust and conflict become more likely - certainly not the ideal way to kick off a new council cycle. So what can we do to create a sense of cohesion and shared understanding? Is there an opportunity to use council elections as a reset and build a better foundation for the future? If this conversation interests you, join me for my upcoming discussions on improving local government. The next session is on October 1st. Why do government agencies abandon their jobs for nonprofits to do? I recounted my experience at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Nigeria a couple of years ago. The INEC chairman seemed certain that he wanted all socially excluded groups in Nigeria including inmates to participate in voting. However, 2 years later, nothing was happening. That was one instance. The more you look at the various agencies of the Nigerian government, the more you realize that it is the private sector, doing the work of the government. NGOs support local communities, build infrastructure, and raise funds for Empowering Vulnerable populations and all. The government agencies may often be seen to be on the fence playing observatory roles. Why do governments everywhere fear the human rights they are sworn to protect and uphold? Why is the INEC not interested in expanding voting to the most vulnerable members of our society, one community at a time?

Plenty of Taiwanese left wanting Taiwan is ranked the 14th most affluent nation by Global Finance, says the attached report of Dec. 25, 2023. Such uplifting news gives the impression the tiny island nation brims of wealthy folks with few earthly problems. But the truth is never as rosy as such surveys suggest. Casual browsing of FB turns up plenty of evidence that there are actually kids in the remote parts deprived of taken-for-granted hot meals or educational resources widely available to their urban counterparts. The attached websites are posted by various organizations and charities soliciting donations to help all kinds of Taiwanese who certainly don't feel as if citizens of the 14th-richest nation. #PlentyOfTaiwaneseLeftWanting https://lnkd.in/enX-J6dQ https://lnkd.in/e6v_7dQn https://lnkd.in/epzwBTJs https://lnkd.in/e6ZTpB7a https://lnkd.in/eQR3MRzT https://lnkd.in/eUv7_h9a https://lnkd.in/eX38UtVm https://lnkd.in/ewbPYiKq https://lnkd.in/eEEddTjd

Foxglove's 5 objectives: 1️⃣𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 85% of the Australian charity dollar goes to Australian-based initiatives. Foxglove applauds charities supporting Australian projects but sees its role in the Third World where needs are significant and a small amount of funds make a remarkable difference. 2️⃣𝙒𝙚 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣 We spend a maximum of 13 cents of every dollar in Australia: Foxglove will spend 87% of its funds overseas on local grassroots initiatives. In addition, the overseas organisation will commit to spending a maximum of 10 cents in every dollar on management and monitoring. 3️⃣𝙒𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 Foxglove only partners with indigenous in-country organisations that have the capacity to develop and implement effective local projects. This priority supports the long term sustainability of skills and structures implemented through development projects. 4️⃣𝙒𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙨 Women in the developing world spend 80 cents of every dollar they earn on family and community. It is estimated that a woman leaving poverty will take between 5-9 others with her. By focusing on women and girls, Foxglove has learned that everyone benefits: men and boys, villages and districts. This happens by building micro economies as well as local capacities. 5️⃣𝙒𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 Projects reliant on ongoing financial support inevitably move towards dependence and disempowerment. Foxglove will only support projects that are committed to outcomes of independence and self-sufficiency. Find out more >>> https://lnkd.in/gd2BjGNm 🧡💚☺️
