INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR MATHEMATICS " Unlock the power of numbers on International Mathematics Day.” Simplification is not only valid in maths, but it also teaches us to simplify the complexities of life, learning maths can be the right way to go and the only way to learn mathematics is to start doing mathematics. As we marvel at the beauty of mathematical concepts and their practical applications, let us also recognize the importance of education and mathematics for all and to build a brighter future ahead for all. Greater global awareness is vital to address the challenges in areas such as • Artificial intelligence • Energy building • Sustainable development • Development of nation • Critical Thinking skills • Equal participation of both genders Encouragement of education of girls in STEM readily encourages in combating these challenges. Despite s shortage of skills in most of the technological skills there has been a decreasing percentage of girls in STEM. One of the best ways are to start with spreading awareness that our academic abilities are expandable and stretchable. Mathematics truly plays an essential role that math education plays in breakthrough of science and technology is vast. The proclamation of March 14 as the International Day of Mathematics was adopted by the Executive Council of UNESCO at its 205th session. It was adopted by the 40th session of the General Conference of the UNESCO in November 2019.Theme for the year 2024 is " playing with math" . On this International Mathematics Day , popularly known as pie day let us celebrate the enduring legacy of mathematics and its transforming impact on the world. Mathematics truly shape our understanding of the universe and drives the progress in every aspect of the human endeavour . "From Fibonacci to fractals , lets explore the beauty of mathematics together !" Most importantly , to combat challenges in every demanding world of your energy, its important your inner energy reservoir is filled with peaceful mind ready for the challenges and UNESCO BMW is one such organisation with a mission to spread peace . #unesco #unescobmw #piday unescobmw.org

University Mathematics Educator | 15+ years of teaching and research experience in the tertiary sector | Specialist in student-centric mathematics support and mixed-methods mathematics education research
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be presenting two works (a paper and a poster) at the upcoming ICME-15: The 15th International Congress on Mathematical Education next week. These presentations form part of a 17-year journey in the investigation of intensive mode delivery of mathematics within the tertiary sector. I look forward to not only sharing some key findings, but also to learning from others in the field. Please come along and join me and my fellow Topic Study Groups (TSG) presenters if you’re attending the conference and find the below TSGs interesting 🙂 🔹 Poster: “Summer School versus Term-Time for Undergraduate Mathematics: A Mixed-Methods Comparative Investigation” 📅 Date: July 12, 2024 🕟 Session Start Time: 4:30 PM 🕠 My Presentation Time: 6:00 PM (ID1403) 🎓 Session: TSG 5.9 - Theories in mathematics education 🔹 Paper: “AI versus Human: Mining Students’ Sentiments Towards Intensive Mode Delivery of Undergraduate Mathematics” 📅 Date: July 13, 2024 🕟 Session Start Time: 4:30 PM 🕔 My Presentation Time: 5:05 PM (ID1400) 🎓 Session: TSG 3.8 - The role and the use of technology in the teaching and learning of mathematics at upper secondary and tertiary level In my talks, I will discuss some of the dynamics of intensive mode delivery of undergraduate mathematics, and consider the analysis of student sentiment, from both 'human' and 'AI' perspectives. I’m particularly excited about the potential of AI to transform not only how we teach mathematics, but also how we conduct mathematics education research. What are your thoughts on this? If you’re attending ICME-15, I warmly invite you join us in the above TSG sessions, and engage in a lively discussion about these cutting-edge topics. Looking forward to seeing many familiar and new faces! #ICME15 #MathEducation #EducationResearch #TechnologyInEducation #AcademicConference #HigherEd #MixedMethods #STEMEducation

So many of you came, it felt really good! 🧡 We celebrated three years of work together with my excellent mentors Zita and Andras in a great atmosphere. 🙏 Now there's only one step left: processing and evaluating the research results. 💡 📊 As for the direction in which I/we are heading: The aim of my research is to understand the relationship between mathematical literacy, numerical representations and decision making, with the aim of proving their close connection and, beyond that, to define a new direction in mathematics education and in the development of mathematical literacy that can provide usable knowledge for everyone(!). Accordingly, my aim is also to get to know and understand the community's perceptions of mathematics, which are most influenced by the amount of time spent learning mathematics. ☄ As far as mathematics is concerned, I can say in advance that there are no hopeless situations, only those that are given up. However, perhaps the hardest part is to get people to stop giving up. I have been involved in mathematics education for more than 20 years, sometimes more, sometimes less, but always. My TDK/OTDK (Scientific Students' Associations Conference/National Scientific Students' Associations Conference) thesis supervisor, Béla Bodosi, played an indispensable role in igniting the spark with which we started thinking about mathematics education even before I became a mathematician. 🖖 Ninety percent of my university students, my mentees, gave up on mathematics, and my task was more than just to teach mathematics. I had to give them back what they had lost: hope. Hope that they too could understand mathematics and that they were not as "stupid" as they thought they were. And when that happens, they become more competent in their own choices, because from then on they see the world differently, because it turns out that the image they have had for almost a decade of "not having a maths brain" is false. And that opens up new worlds for them! 🚀 The research doesn't stop, the dance is just beginning! I will be back! 😎 #mindenkimatematikus #CorvinUS #weallmathematician #sustainablethinking #keys4corporate

We then have to rely on someone else's brain for compensation. This leads to templating, a mirage of knowledge which limits creativity and innovation. Mathematics in Motion: Showcasing Profitable Masterpieces Mathematics has always been a subject so dear to me and translating the same love for it to my students has been the purpose all along in my last 8 months in #teachforindia fellowship. Recently we studied 'Profit and Loss' as a topic in #mathematics and looking at the enthusiasm of students to find the answers for it , a thought developed ... A class fair , filled with products made by our own hands, with our own little money to spare , yet innovative and especially applicative for whatever we have studied so far... never did i imagine it going way better than the thought itself ! https://lnkd.in/d9qNcrgQ All I did is push for a innovation and mathematics connect and here we go , a fair that roared PROFIT, PROFIT and PROFIT ! 30 students came together and did something wonderful. Here's some snippets and Instagram post link for more ! https://lnkd.in/d7G5vAdX

For many children, science and maths are associated with rote learning and a sense of confusion. These subjects, fundamental to understanding the world around us, often develop a reputation for being dry and difficult. In the UK, for example, surveys have found that half of children find the subjects too difficult and too boring. It’s a myth that the teachers at Aiglon are working to dispel. “Our goal is not just to put in place the mathematical fundamentals,” explains Peter Bromfield, Head of Maths at Aiglon College. “It’s to get rid of the misconceptions some children have, where they think they’re not good at maths or science, and to help them feel confident and happy in their classes.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e7b2MShf #AiglonLife #Science #Maths #STEM
