Around a year ago, I developed a tool in the FromSoft video game modding community that allows icon artists to automate the process of registering their custom icon artwork into Dark Souls III or ELDEN RING. It's known as the one and only Icon Automator! The tool works by allowing users to select DDS image files, which are then processed to generate icon sheets and optionally high-definition versions, using ImageMagick for image manipulation and SoulsFormats for game-specific file handling. It can also apply 3D or drop shadows to icons before they're registered in-game (the code has to do quite a bit of math!). Vanilla DS3 icons sit on pedestal sprites (so they use 3D shadows), while vanilla ER icons simply float (drop shadows). This means that if you want shadows, you can directly apply them to your icons in the automator instead of inside your image editor. Pretty neat, huh?
