From the soil and back to the soil, composting is key for sustainable farming. We upcycled 100% of our crop and animal waste for our second compost batch. I’m hoping the result is enough for our rainy season vegetable cultivation, saving us from soaring manure prices. It took us the whole day to get this together and a really proud moment is hearing the workers saying this is a much better alternative to them burning their crop wastes each cycle. This is how we propel our local farmers forward with regenerative agricultural practices, they see better, do better, and our collective food system improves. • • • #aridgoldfarms #compost #composting #recycling #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming

Did you know that coffee, beans, and bananas can thrive together? Intercropping these three crops can be a game-changer for sustainable farming! Here's how: Beans fix nitrogen in the soil, enriching it for coffee trees Bean leaves fall, creating organic manure for the soil Banana trees provide shade, retaining moisture and reducing irrigation needs for coffee and beans When done strategically with proper spacing and timing, this trio can: Boost soil fertility Increase crop yields Conserve water Promote biodiversity Reduce at the cost of coffee farming Let's embrace this harmonious union and grow a more resilient and sustainable future for our coffee! #intercropping #sustainablefarming #coffeefarming #regenerativeagriculture"

Reducing carbon emissions is good for business. Building communities and changing the world when you do it builds a better future for everyone.
Harnessing the Power of Hemp for Sustainable Agriculture Hemp is not only a versatile crop but also a champion of sustainability. Its long roots bind the soil, preventing erosion and contributing to soil health. Unlike many crops, hemp thrives without the need for chemical inputs, which means it helps to purify the soil it grows in. At CO2 Evolve, we are committed to promoting the use of hemp in crop rotation to improve soil quality and support sustainable farming practices. By integrating hemp into our agricultural systems, we can enhance soil structure, reduce the reliance on harmful chemicals, and create a more resilient and sustainable farming future. 🌱💚 #Sustainability #Agriculture #Hemp #SoilHealth #EcoFriendlyFarming #CO2Evolve #ClimateAction

[Sustainable Farming Practices — Part 3] In part 3 of our Sustainable Farming Practices Series, we discuss Constructed Wetland Treatment Systems. ➡️ Swipe to know more about this innovative #naturebased technology that harnesses the power of plants to offer a holistic water treatment solution! 🌊 While CWTS are not a direct cultivation technique, they address the most pivotal resource for any agricultural set up - water. CWTS play a crucial role in closing the loop in water management systems by treating wastewater, recycling nutrients, conserving energy, and enhancing #ecosystemservices, thus promoting #sustainability and #selfsufficiency 🔄🌱 On our Water Nursery, we have conserved over 200 species of aquatic and #wetlandplants that offer numerous ecosystem services such as cleaning toxins in soil and water, and attracting #biodiversity! 🐝🌿

Let's Talk About Pulses and Water Conservation 🌱💧 Pulses, including lentils, beans, chickpeas, and peas, are champions of #sustainability due to their unique agricultural traits. Unlike many other crops, pulses have shallow root systems, which means they primarily draw #water from the upper layers of the soil. This reduces their reliance on deep water sources, making them an ideal choice for areas prone to water scarcity. ☀ Additionally, pulses are naturally drought-resistant. Their resilience in arid conditions helps conserve valuable water resources and supports sustainable farming practices. By choosing #pulses, we can make a positive impact on our environment while enjoying a healthy and versatile food source! 🌍 #USAPulses #sustainability

Over the last couple of years we have been on a journey towards healthier soils, knowing that we have a role at Hobbs House Bakery - Certified B Corporation to do things differently. Thanks to such generous sharing from farmers, growers and millers we have now started our journey of making sure we know where all our flour comes from. Here’s a little video we made You might have heard us using the term ‘Regenerative Flour’ before, but what does this really mean? Unlike some other farming methods, regenerative farming means lots of different things, to lots of different people. Regenerative focuses on the soils health, above and below the soil and it’s biodiversity. Adding more nutrients to the soil, crops and flour. Ultimately making better bread. We believe knowing where our flour comes from and that it’s grown in a sustainable way is just as important. That’s why we’re committed to knowing more about our farmers and how they’re growing our flour. #regenuary #realbread #sourdough #regenerativeagriculture
