UN Women Australia’s Post

We welcome the Australian Government’s $4.7 billion commitment to addressing gender-based violence – a crucial step toward ensuring women and girls are #SafeEverywhereAlways. Gender-based violence remains one of the most pervasive human rights violations, causing lasting physical and psychological harm while reinforcing gender inequality. The solution lies in robust responses, including investment in prevention and frontline services. But real change requires action from us all. From individuals in their communities to institutions such as the justice system, healthcare, education, and government – everyone has a part to play in creating safer spaces for women, everywhere and always. Violence costs us all, and together, we can put an end to it.

Sadly the funding which will strengthen the institutions systemically perpetuating the subjugation of women. The police, courts, and some payments to make her leave. There is nothing really changing the system for domestic violence orders or forced removal locations for perpetrators to be detained so women and child are safe at home. Nope a waste of money reinforcing a system that is so broken only more violence can come of this investment.
