Rich Sherman hit the nail on the head! I couldn't agree more with his recent post about the expectations for Senior Graphic Designers. It's astounding how many companies these days are seeking graphic designers who are practically masters of every single aspect of design. Back in the day, specialization was valued and for good reason – it allowed for deeper expertise and encouraged collaboration within teams. It's high time Creative Directors and hiring managers reassess these unrealistic expectations. Expecting a graphic designer to excel in everything only limits the potential for true greatness. For Christmas this year and for the sake of my daughter who is arriving this month, all I want is a job. Yes, a job. It can be 100% on-site or remote or hybrid, it doesn’t matter. I have been unemployed since August and that’s unacceptable for me. I have done absolutely everything I can and it’s still not enough. Creatives...I feel for you. I posted a Senior Graphic Designer role yesterday and had over 100 applicants in 30 minutes. 300 by hour 2, then 600 when I checked this morning - plus another 200 just in the last 3 hours.
