August is National Children's Eye Health and Safety Month "The Importance of Annual Eye Exams for Children" Annual eye exams for children are crucial for ensuring healthy vision and early detection of eye conditions. Regular exams can identify issues like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, which can impact a child’s learning and development if left untreated. Detecting problems early allows for timely intervention, such as corrective lenses or therapy, to prevent long-term damage. Additionally, routine eye exams monitor overall eye health, ensuring that children’s eyes develop properly as they grow. Prioritizing annual eye exams helps safeguard a child's vision and overall well-being.

The steps involving #back blows and #abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver) are critical in responding to a child choking situation: 1. #Back Blows:** - After assessing that the child cannot cough forcefully, administer five back blows between the shoulder blades. - Stand or kneel behind the child, offering support by placing one hand on their chest. - Use the heel of your hand to deliver firm blows, aiming to dislodge the obstructing object. 2. #Abdominal Thrusts (Heimlich Maneuver):** - If back blows do not succeed, proceed to abdominal thrusts. - Stand or kneel behind the child, wrapping your arms around their waist. - Form a fist with one hand, placing the thumb side above the child's navel. - Grasp your fist with the other hand and deliver quick, upward thrusts to force air from the child's lungs, potentially expelling the obstruction. #Remember to continue these cycles until the object is dislodged or the child can breathe, cough, or cry. Seeking emergency help if the child loses consciousness is crucial. Always consult with medical professionals for guidance and receive proper training in CPR and first aid. #ChildSafety #ChokingResponse 🚑👶

Does your child have colorblindness? Colorblindness is the reduced ability to see different colors, such as red, green, blue, and yellow. 🔴 Protanopia is the inability to see shades and hues of red. 🟢 Deuteranopia is the inability to see shades and hues and green. 🔵 Tritanopia is the inability to see shades of blue and yellow. Some signs to look out for include: 1️⃣Your child having difficulty learning their colors or identifying them 2️⃣When they color they use unusual colors 3️⃣They avoid coloring activities all together If you suspect that your child might be color blind, it's important to schedule an examination with an eye care provider. While there is no cure for this condition, obtaining a formal diagnosis is the first step to getting your child the support and accommodations they needed to learn to live and thrive with colorblindness.
