I (re)launch brands and scale them to millions: Consultant/ Entrepreneur/ Contractor; for launches, turnarounds & tuneups.
Trendwatching: Cargobikes are starting to grow out of niche delivery. London city Cargobike use grew 73% YoY 2022-2023, and 63% citywide. Sure, given; a +73% figure is easily attained when only 200 companies use cargobikes. Yet, this "easy" growth figure belies a trend in adoption, solidified by studies (scroll back in my feed) done by and with TfL. These concluded that 20% of all van journeys can profitably be replaced by cargobikes by 2030. For reference, cargo vans now ride over 50% more miles than they did 20 years ago, with 450 Million packages delivered in London per year (about one per resident per week)
Making and taking the journey with alternative forms of mobility - for work, and for leisure - will transform the shape of cities, and the lives we live in the places we live. And then there's the impact on air quality. #cycling #activetravel #transport #futuremobility #changemakers #newmobility #transportinfrastructure #remodeling #builtenvironment #infrastructuredevelopment #transportinfrastructure #economicimpact #societalimpact #environmentalimpact #productivity #socialmobility #politicalleadership #PolicyShapesSociety #government #policymakers #advocacy #lobbying #influentialleadership #communication #nationalpsyche #mindset #culture #livedexperiences https://lnkd.in/eFpbKfUf

Reducing our carbon footprint…step by step 🌍 Last month our Junior Board launched the CWG Strava Club – a pilot of 22 members from across the business who commute to and from work via foot or by bicycle. By tagging their commutes on Strava, using their new carbon calculator tool, we have been able to estimate the carbon savings when running, walking or cycling to and from work instead of traveling by car. Although this is a small part of our overall carbon footprint, we are excited to take action and use this to engage with our colleagues across the business. 🥁 And the results are in, during November the pilot group: 🏃 Walked, ran and cycled over 1,400 km – equivalent to 7.5 loops of the M25! 💨 Saved an estimated 310 Kg CO2 – equivalent to 51 car journeys from Canary Wharf to Heathrow in an average diesel car The key benefits of our Strava Club include: 1. Getting colleagues engaged with sustainability by encouraging them to think about their carbon footprint 2. Connecting colleagues with interests in sports and fitness 3. Active commuting is linked to improving health and wellbeing Congratulations to the CWG Junior Board and all colleagues involved, keep up the steps and the good work! New Mobility policy advisor at Brussels Mobility - Multimodal Mobility & Transport Innovation expert
Happy to be featured amongst inspiring people from leading cities and organisations in the latest number of #CitiesInMotion from POLIS Network; an article about the digitalization of mobility, a trend happening in cities in the US and Europe. At Bruxelles Mobilité - Brussel Mobiliteit, with the incredible work of Jessica Gilsoul, we are using the Mobility Data Specification for the digital governance of shared mobility services ; with data sharing and data reporting enshrined in the recent revision of the regulatory framework for shared micromobility services. Following the excellent work and recommendations in different projects and publications from ITF - International Transport Forum such as #MaaSinBrussels, #MixandMaaS and #MaaSmovesBrussels (more on the latter soon), we are considering data as a foundational infrastructure in our new mobility policies. If you want to dive deeper in this fascinating topic, go give it a read 👇 #DigitalizedMobility #DataIsInfrastructure #SharedMobility #NewMobility #MaaSinBrussels #GoodMove 🤜 🤛 philippe crist Marion Lagadic Camille Combe Katell Guillou

Packed room to hear Georgia Yexley speak on micromobility at Earthfest. She says: "For too long in the UK sustainable transport, it's all been about safety and that's a basic requirement. That is bare minimum, not a holy grail of what systems need to achieve. We have now begun to achieve it, so now we must ask what are the benefits people getting from it?" Making the point that the dialogue must pivot to show the many fold benefits people gain as they switch to cycling and how that creates a feedback loop in demand across a broader spectrum of people as conditions improve to cope. Of course infrastructure quality varies wildly, but where we have progress we must keep the receipts and talk about the gains society makes on health, congestion, pollution and changes to the environment that make people comfortable staying longer. Backed up by Tom Fyans who spoke on #londonlovescycling pre-election campaign deliberately distancing from the 'war on motorist' culture war and instead illustrating that London has embraced cycling and now it's a main transport mode. The way we frame a dialogue makes a difference and it's long overdue that we ignore the populist noise and go all guns blazing on the positive impacts our products have on individuals, but more than that wider society. That's something we are uniquely positioned to do in the transport ecosystem.

They're More than just Bike Lanes The recent completion of the Albert/Pine Street bike lane underscores a greater commitment in supporting healthier, greener, and safer micro-mobility options. A study conducted in Victoria and Halifax showed that investing in cycling infrastructure yielded significant health and carbon impacts. Over a 10-year period, every dollar spent resulted in preventing premature deaths and reducing carbon emissions by 1.7 to 2.1 times the initial investment. More optimistic projections indicated even higher returns, ranging from 3.9 to 4.9 times the investment — https://bit.ly/3xZOxdO. Supported by extensive public consultations, Albert/Pine Street bike lane reflects our community’s sentiment towards sustainable transportation. By investing in infrastructure that supports active transportation, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also promoting a healthier lifestyle for our residents. #EveryMove is Sport England sustainability strategy to help support the sport and physical activity sector respond to climate change. Participation levels are being affected by the increasing prevalence of climate change events such as heatwaves and flooding. Here at Active Humber we are very proud to be featured in the new sustainability strategy, we continue to strive to make a difference but we need your help in doing so. We are extremely proud and honoured to be featured in the strategy (page 28) and here are a few words from our CEO David Gent: "The Humber region is at the very front of the UK’s approach to tackling climate change and we at Active Humber are doing all we can to ensure that sport and physical activity across the Humber is playing our part in making the Humber as environmentally sustainable as is possible. The Sport England ‘Every Move’ strategy gives us the opportunity to move at even faster rate of progress with our partners than at present, to ensure that as climate change affects the Humber, we can make community sport and physical activity as sustainable and inclusive for all as we can. We know that by walking and cycling more than we do as a place, taking care of our green and blue spaces, ensuring our built facilities are energy efficient that these are great ways to tackle the effects of climate change and make the place we all love to play in, more sustainable." We must act now, view the full report here: https://zurl.co/8QiR

Burton’s People und Planet Impact Director Emily Foster about the European Green Deal – an interview with SAZsport. “By 2030, we are committed to reducing our absolute emissions from Burton facilities and operations by 42 percent and reducing our supply chain emission per dollar of profit by 55 percent, based on a 2020 baseline.” For Burton Snowboards, climate change has been a central focus of their sustainability work for over ten years – not only because their business success is closely linked to the winter. Emily Foster is pleased about the European Green Deal as its standardization brings more stringency to sustainability through measurements, reporting and compliance. As Director of People and Planet Impact at Burton, she advocates more cooperation in the industry and cross-country learning and now points out where the overseas exchange about sustainability issues is already working both ways. While the US snowboard brand is still adapting to the complex reporting requirements, they are benefiting from their years of sustainability work and find themselves in a good market position. Burton recognizes the European Green Deal as an opportunity for significant change in the industry – we are very much looking forward! #burton #sustainability #EUGreenDeal
