With the explosion of big swim-bait/glide-bait popularity, I started inquiring with makers of these lures, to learn more about which ones most effectively draw sales, and the "why?" or "why not", in others- and how I can help to make the "not so much" glidebait's sales more competitive- i.e. how to make them #1 in the world as the goal! All this was in preparation for presentations at tackle dealers, marinas, and store owners, in conjunction with a series of customer-based seminars, including invitations for special guests (the artist, air brush specialists, and company reps, sponsored anglers, etc), anglers who will find time (30mins-1hr.) to attend my meetings, giving insights on their tournament successes, and what they believe is making a given glidebait so special about their sponsor's brand of glidebait, the “magic” behind why any BIG 'Ol 7”-10” lure is effective for giant bass (!!!). Some time will also be allocated for the heavier tackle setups required, terminal tackle, bigger hooks-(sharp ones!), all the gadgets and accessories necessary to present these specialized lures properly.
I began working on this project in 2020-2021- then the COVID-19 pandemic put a damper on our entire project! But now we are back! Once I obtain more samples from the makers of a limited number of "top-shelf" glidebaits, and the more economically priced- but reputable Glidebait/Swimbait makers, I can begin the work on filming, also just trying out EVERY 1 - making detailed notes, filming in REAL TIME situations- comparing baits w/o any pre-conceived opinions- whether I have favorites or not- absolute neutrality is the priority.
I will be traveling on fishing excursions across several states (with my wife) to help film, and prepare for the meetings, seminars, etc.)-to lakes where "Trophy Bass" thrive! Toledo Bend, Lake Fork, Caddo- and then on to OK, and Arkansas- Ouachita, DeGray, Greeson, Bull Shoals, and Beaver- then Missouri to Table Rock, Lake of the Ozarks and the MO sides of Norfork and Bull Shoals. We will attend many tournament weigh-ins- including local- Tues. & Friday Night events- often the "bread & butter" of a customer base for tackle sales on many lakes and local tackle shops- Lake Hamilton, Ouachita and DeGray for 3 examples!, Passing out your business cards during tackle shop visits, dealing with tournament directors, marketing- and the pro anglers (often tight-lipped!) who've “quietly” been experiencing success, i.e. winning serious $$$ (!) using 6-8 inch glidebaits these past several years. We will be interacting with them to be our guest speakers- at times on podcasts, others for guides with on the water filming sessions (if they have a booking available., and would be willing to devote an entire day trip using Glidebaits / large Swimbaits, etc. ). If this sounds like a project your swimbait/glidebait company desires to be a part of, contact me through my facebook messages (Ted Lovell) or via email: tlovell2010@yahoo.com.
