We owe much to Indigenous Peoples. The knowledge they’ve preserved and the wisdom they share is what #SharingHumanity is all about. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ea-MNDDA
I am enthusiastic about UNESCO's #SharingHumanity project. Initiatives like this are essential for promoting biodiversity conservation and cultural heritage while working to create more just and peaceful societies. The connection between culture, education, and science is crucial for addressing global challenges and building a sustainable future. I applaud UNESCO 's commitment and hope that this project inspires many people to actively contribute to positive change in the world.
Thanks for sharing this vital information. As an Ethnobotanist who worked among the tribal communities of Western Ghats, Kerala State, India and Folk communities for nearly23 years, I have documented novel information on plants and animal products used for a variety of purposes viz. as Food,Shelter, Medicine,Artifacts and a variety of other purposes. There is great scope for UNESCO to implement a number of projects useful to Nature Conservation, Traditional Food and Medicine, Artifacts which will be definitely useful to the Society. Only point is that the Knowledge holders and their Community should be benefitted along with the general Society. I am happy to be part of the UNESCO Projects in this line. 1moI'm conflicted about this. It seems that often we like to be identified with fostering the concept, but in reality, merely offer it lip service. A bit like the tourist travelling mainly to capture instagrammable scenes for their social media profiles ......... without giving any depth of thought to destinations or cultures. However, the notion behind #sharinghumanity is certainly profound. The depth of Indigenous knowledge systems can often sit proudly beside modern scientific understanding. Their sustainable practices and holistic views on nature and community could be the key to addressing some of our global challenges.
