Today marks the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons with the theme: "Leave No Child Behind" in the fight against human trafficking. 1 in 3 victims of human trafficking globally is a child. Some of them have been trafficked due to crisis, poverty, forced labour, sexual exploitation amongst other things. We need to understand the importance of safeguarding every child from harm and being trafficked, to understand that Children are not commodities and they must be protected from abuse, neglect, violence and exploitation. It's imperative that we act now to halt this atrocity and ensure no child is left unprotected. Together, let's strive for a world where every child is safe, secure, and free to pursue their dreams. #leavenochildbehind #worlddayagainsttraffickinginpersons #restipp #EndHumanTrafficking

The rape and brutal killing of a seven year old girl is a heinous crime that demands the strongest possible condemnation from everyone. It is a tragic reflection of the vulnerability of children, girls, and women in Ethiopia. #Heven case highlights the broader issue of sexual violence against children in #Ethiopia, which is underreported due to factors such as fear, stigma, and lack of access to justice. This and other recent incidents expose gaps in child protection systems, including inadequate prevention efforts, a lack of awareness, and insufficient support for survivors and their families. The perpetrator's actions represent a gross violation of human rights and a failure of the justice system to protect children and girls in Ethiopia. #wedemandjustice

#Gender and public policy senior advisor with >20 years of experience in public and private sectors @LLWB Vice President
Did you know that in May 2024, the ISF received 74 reports of domestic violence, 66 were classified as physical violence? In 47 cases, the perpetrator was the husband, while fathers were responsible in 16 cases, and brothers in 3 cases. Mothers were reported in 3 cases, and other family members were accused in 5 cases. The economic crisis and the continuous tension have exacerbated gender-based violence (GBV) in Lebanon. It is crucial to protect survivors and ensure the strict implementation of laws to combat domestic violence. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please call the ISF on 1745 to report and get the needed help. #Numberoftheweek #GBV #Lebanon #genderequality
